Yes, we ARE stanning that because it's much closer to what we actually listen to than the AvroTros elite picked entries from the last few years (excluding legend Stien)

Oh don't say that cause what if we get Snelle or Boef next year?

No? The televote was introduced for the first time in 1998. In 1996 only five countries voted via televoted and the rest were juries if I remember correctly. 2001 and 2002 countries could choose between voting 100% televote or 50/50. The juries were ditched and only used as a backup in the period between 2003 and 2009. Which countries won in the period between 2001 and 2009? 5 countries that were previously behind the Iron Curtain. It was for the reason that the "newcomers" were outperforming the Western countries. Austria threw a sissy fit and withdrew for 3 years and demanded the 50/50 system to be cemented once and for all.

Not surprising that a Western European would act like that and disregard the concerns of Eastern Europeans. Yikes. I feel sorry that you cannot see the preferential treatment some countries get over the small guys. But we're underdeveloped cave-dwelling savages, what do we know?

Tomato... tomato? The televote system was firstly introduced in 1996 tho, that's what I meant. :rip:

Again, that excuse is tiring nowadays. Last time I checked all juries are chosen by the participating broadcaster and they're free to vote for whoever they want, regardless of the yearly bias we see with certain juries doing the same shenanigans every single year... we all remember the 2022 jury voting fiasco, so I don't think you really wanna get into it.

To be fair it's mostly Dutch people hyping up their entry: his spotify streams being 80% from Netherlands/Belgium is telling.

Let them have fun till the results come in. 4x.gif

Ok but there's only 5 NQs from that semi. Everybody seems to agree on Australia/Moldova/Iceland being NQ, with the borderline group being Ireland/Slovenia/Azerbaijan/Portugal/Serbia. (some are also doubting cyprus and poland, but let's say they are safe). Out of these serbia seems one of the, if not the safest despite #2, considering neighbors/diaspora and the fact that it's a more accessible ~ballad than slovenia or portugal. If Luka qualified last year with that mess of a song and staging, so will Ramonda.

Yeah, I agree that she's more likely to qualify than not, but had they put a bit later in the show, she'd be a sure Q imo.

Finlosers really shot themselves in the foot, they could've had a top 5 jury result on LOCK :gaycat7:

I guess it's better to have your country supporting you than trashing you. The Greeks are non stop trashing queen Marina Satti because of her level of professionalism

This.

Do we have juries voting during elections? No. Then there shouldn't be any in Eurovision, or any competition where the public is asked to vote.

I've finally listened all the 36 songs and, indeed, this has been my winner since February 6th :celestial5:

I'm waiting for the staging. Italy has been inconsistent in staging since their return. Most years it's too little, some to much. Only once did they get it spot on, and they won.

I don't think this is gonna be the stage choreo. That was just for the video.

I trust in Angelina's stage presence. She doesn't need visuals or props, sis :foxaylove2:

Eurovision started in 1956 and it wasn't until 1996 that they introduced the televote, it was all 100% jury voting before then.

Y'all need to drop that silly argument. :toofunny3:

Of course I know this but most eastern european countries started participating at Eurovision after 1990 and started winning almost every year at the 00s decade. So this argument totally makes sense.

It's in my Top 10 this year. I've only listened to the UMK winner song once and never again.

Yugoslavia won in 1989 with an all-jury voting.

Between 1996 (when the televote was firstly introduced) and 2009 (when the juries were reintroduced), 4 winners were from Eastern European countries, 7 winners were from Western and Southern Europe and then there was the Russia win in 2008 and Israel in 1999.

The dramatics are too much I swear and they simply do not fit the stats.
