My current ranking 3 listens in:

1. Tension

2. Padam Padam

3. Hold On To Now

4. Story

5. Green Light

6. One More Time

7. Hands

8. Things We Do For Love

9. You Still Get Me High

10. Vegas High

11. 10 Out Of 10

I’m actually shocked at how clear the order is for me already :chick1:

I can see You Still Get Me High growing on me soon, tho

How do you love Tension and Padam, but not Vegas High :deadbanana:

Believe me I wanted to like it so bad :chick3: Those generic lyrics recall the ghastly memories of New York City and the chorus sounds like it came straight out of Eurovision. I do love the production and the bridge is HEAVENLY, but overall the song is one painfully obvious product placement imo and will probably age like milk

I think HOTN is a flop single choice while you got Hands and Green Light

Flop single choice? That's the best song on the album. :rip:

I’m so mad at her for giving all the best stuff to UK / London fans :chick3:

Also you have to be there to get it which is even more annoying… and scalpers will be making money this week…

I’m gonna get dragged for this but I’ve just listened to the deluxe tracks for the first time and the only one I really enjoy is Love Train. :chick3: Just Imagine and Somebody To Love are a little pseudo-deep to me… I do love the rawer vocals on Just Imagine, though. Somebody To Love reminds me of Everything Is Beautiful in the sense that the intent is clear, but the end result is too vanilla.

At least Love Train is unabashed grab-your-booze and make-a-train kind of fun, kinda like Monday Blues

same i liked almost every standard track didnt really feel for the last two bonus tracks, love train is amazing tho

Spoiler

Padam Padam: Extremely well-crafted pop song, never overstays its welcome, sounds fresh even nearly 100 listens and four months in, simplistic but highly effective, the inquisitive ‘Padam?’ in the first chorus is a discography highlight, 8.5/10

Hold On to Now: Beautiful example of emoto-pop done right (not like Kylie has ever let us down in that regard), sounds like The One, Robyn’s Honey, and Dagny’s Somebody concurrently, has pace and energy unlike most emoto-pop songs by Kylie, could work on the dancefloor as well as on a long ride or in an intimate, acoustic setting, beautiful outro, 9/10

Things We Do For Love: Very 80s, probably the most 80s Kylie has sounded since 1989, infectious bridge, extremely catchy, could fit right in with the more modern take on 80s synth-pop this decade, very catchy chours, 8/10

Tension: Very eclectic in its structure, every segment of the song is a hook of its own, the chorus is the cuntiest thing she has sung in forever, feels like Padam if it took a few drinks and went to the club with her friends instead of the hot guy’s apartment, the la-la-la's in the final chorus are eargasmic, the build-up to the chorus with Kylie talking about breaking tension is absolute pop genius, excellent mix of dynamism and stillness in a dance song, 9.5/10

One More Time: Intro reminds me of Emotion and Shooting Star by Carly, the chorus is very disco, the horns only serve to elevate it although the accent on ‘one more time’ is not always the most flattering, feels like a glowed-up version of Sexy Love, very well-done instrumental even if the topline doesn’t folow through, 7/10

You Still Get Me High: Absolutely fantasic verses, very reflective and heartwarming, the pre-chorus melody is heavenly, the instrumental in the verses is also stunning, the chorus feels a little uninspired compared to the fantastic verses, again delves into 80s synth-pop territory, the outro redeems it again, love the sentiments of the song, 8.5/10

Hands: Come through Kylie Minaj, the verses are super fun when Kylie starts rapping, the session singer on the first half of the first verse sounds similar enough to Kylie that it annoys me Kylie doesn’t sing all of that, the background vocals are very mid-2000s R&B, the chorus is very on-trend, in a similar vein to Padam and Tension in terms of outright sexual bravado, 7/10

Green Light: catchy but predictable, pleasant enough song and the saxophone comes in at just the right times to give it some more flavour, feels very Disco with the way the strings kick in during the chorus, feels a little bit reductive and unimaginative following a series of strong numbers preceeding it, 6/10

Vegas High: Verses sound quite Dua Lipa circa Future Nostalgia, but that’s not a bad thing, the actual chorus is an absolute earworm, love how drawn out the pre-chorus is, makes the whole chorus feels like a bigger delivery than it is, it sounds like it would work tremendously in a live setting, 7/10

10 Out of 10: Fits extremely well on the album, feels like a solid change of pace after the previous few songs went more into a contemporary Disco territory, needs to be mashed up with Enjoy Yourself on tour, very infectious in its mood, the bridge/third verse is on par with Things We Do For Love for the best one on the album, 8/10

Story: Very pretty lyrics, there’s a certain instrument/effect in the instrumental which I can not name that gives it a magical feel, the bridge is slightly gritty in just right the ways, outro is very pretty, 7/10

Love Train: Good pace-changer after the more 80s tracks on the album, good way to revamp Locomotion on tour, the pre-chorus and build up is excellent, very 2010s but not in a dated way, should’ve had a bridge + chorus to round it off instead of that outro, 7.5/10

Just Imagine: Beautiful lyrics, stunning melodies through the verse and chorus, sounds very mid-2010s, reminds me of Kiss Me Once title track, chorus is powerful and infectious concurrently, also reminds me a little of The Veronicas’ This Love, should’ve been longer, excellent song, 9/10

Somebody To Love: Again very 2010s take on synth-pop, reminds me just a tad bit of LANY, the ‘solo go’ in the second pre-chorus is a very smart choice, let down a little bit by the chorus since it doesn’t sound too different melodically from the rest of the album, a bit unmemorable because of its length, 7/10

Overall: Yet another excellent album from Kylie, while not every track is a hit, at its best Tension is either deliciously campy and sexy or touchingly emotive and doe-eyed, the closest comparison I have album-wise is Carly's Dedicated/Dedicated: Side B, 7.8/10

I was thinking Hold On to Now sounded like Somebody! It also totally sounds like Robyn which I hadn't thought of.

Dolby Atmos really makes this album. God, Just Imagine and Somebody To Love are incredible highlights and deserved to be on the standard. I think standard should have been the 13 tracks without the collab.
