okgo
Quote The studio has tapped Nisha Ganatra to direct a sequel to its 2003 family comedy Freaky Friday, giving the long-promised project momentum and putting it on track for a summer shoot in Los Angeles. Andrew Gunn, who produced the 2003 movie, is producing along with former Disney exec Kristin Burr. It is unclear whether the feature will be released theatrically or debut on Disney+.
imabadkid
I'm so happy for Lindsay. I know how much she wanted this (and a Mean Girls sequel but... yah...) Congrats! The Netflix deal is awesome and a HUGE deal for her but I'm hoping after this FF remake this will open other new doors for her.
crf13
Need this to get a theatrical release! I want to see Lindsay on the big screen again. I don't want this being relegated to a Disney+ exclusive.

Like the last big one was Hocus Pocus 2 and the Pixar movies in 2022… OMG Queen Lindsay back in the big screen released from mediocre Netflix romcoms we won!!! Hopefully it smashes and she gets more jobs, also I need her to sign a new song please 🙏🏽 oh and who would be her kid???
prettyinpink940
I really hope they're not gonna make Lindsay a mom with a teenage daughter or something.

Harper is in a bit of a mood these days because her mom is set to marry British restaurateur Eric Davies. If that wasn't bad enough Eric comes with his own 14-year-old daughter, sharp-tongued, Lily. Harper's dad is not in the picture and she's only met him when she was a baby, but he writes her birthday letters. Anna is also apprehensive about performing on stage again and her mom Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis) is still a therapist. Anna's daughter and step-daughter will switch bodies with Anna and Tess. SamanthaJadeFr
I feel like Freaky Friday 2 is gonna open even more doors for Lindsay in the future, between working again with Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis and Disney being willing to work with Lindsay, that is a huge sign of trust

I much prefer it like this because I want Jamie to switch again too, her and Lindsay are obviously the draw and this way it's not the same thing they did in the previous movie + both of them now get to act childish together which could be hilarious, I already cackled at some of the lines I read
NoAngelus
Director involved + it possibly being streaming movie killed my hype for this. And knowing that Lindsay will once again shove her sister down our throats, watch Aliana play her daughter just so she could sing in the movie. Aliana will not play her daughter but she did say she might get her to write a song the director/writers seem fine to me, I don't know much of their work but people seemed to like Dollface and it's cool that it's an all women team behind it. I honestly dont mind if it goes to Disney+ either, even the Enchanted sequel did and that original movie was bigger than Freaky Friday. there's less pressure and this will be another important stepping stone in Lindsay's acting return anyway with her reconnecting with Disney + acting alongside Jamie + maybe a new song or two for the music stans etc there's a lot to look forward to Edited March 31 by okgo

So I guess what comes down to is finding really good teen actresses for these parts. Finding someone who has the same kind of charisma that Lindsay did back in the day is gonna be hard.
fridayteenage
well casting Lindsay was easy since she had a working relationship with Disney for 5 years they could just pick some kids they've already worked with again
okgo
Entertainment Weekly shared some of the stuff in the script pages yesterday so it's been reposted all over now.. Castittalent seems to be a big platform used by most major studios so I'm assuming they were ok with this info getting out anyway
ItsJustMe.
they should just make it about lindsay and jamie again nobody cares about these new kids and it just makes everyone feel old
okgo
19 hours ago, ItsJustMe. said: they should just make it about lindsay and jamie again nobody cares about these new kids and it just makes everyone feel old well at the end of the day considering the type of franchise I think it was inevitable they'd want to include kids, and Jamie herself has always been saying she wanted to play a grandma this time. honestly, as I mentioned above, Lindsay and Jamie acting/behaving like kids together will likely be more entertaining than a 30/40 year old Anna switching with a 60 year old Tess (unless they wanted to go for an edgier approach which is unlikely with this being Disney). let's just hope the script is solid and the main plot is focused on the kids in the grown ups body trying to switch back (so we stay with Lindsay and Jamie on screen most of the time)

okgo
Disney REALLY needs to finally fix this and make the song available everywhere wtf (and they should do the same with the Drama Queen ost) I see Take Me Away and Ultimate (and Drama Queen) being talked about all the time on social media I hope the incoming sequel makes them finally move Christina's been pregnant so I hope she has time to pop the baby out til then, we NEED a Pink Slip reunion!

fridayteenage
Would be a pre vetted choice given she has several seasons of an ABC sitcom plus some Oscar contenders. Similar to how disney already had a relationship with Lindsay
Cleanromantic
Lindsay looks so good. I miss having her in quality romcoms on the big screen, those Netflix movies are so bad and such a waste of her charm and talent. Hopefully this proves to be a big comeback for her. She could really fit in Jennifer Lawrence type comedy movies, she could've easily done No Hard Feelings or a movie in that vain.
