Just realized they have yet to update this. Hasn't Midnights been eligible for 4x Platinum for like 2 months now?

Back To Basics went 2x Platinum in the US last year. I don’t get only counting the certifications from the year the album was released lol.

Her team is weird...

They only update based on pure sales.

Lover was certified 3x platinum 8 months ago despite selling 5M. Same with folklore and evermore.

Chromatica (2020) is probably 2x Platinum in Brazil, but they won´t update her Gaga´s certificatons.

She also has "A Star Is Born" (2018) which is 2x Platinum (or more) in the US, UK, France, Canada & Australia but it´s a Soundtrack.

this might seem like a dumb question, but what merit do certifications have when we already know the actual sales of the albums? for example, why should i care whether a song being under certified when the actual sales/stats are known to the public anyway?

These chartdata tweets weren't certification updates – they only posted her latest certifications on Oct 20 because Midnights was coming out the next day, as they do for many artists. They were not updated that day.

Also, it's impossible for them to only certify pure sales. It isn't her team that certifies albums, but RIAA, who uphold the same criteria (certifications based on SPS) for all artists. When Midnights was certified 2x Platinum, it hadn't yet sold 2 million pure copies in the US as you suggest. It reached that figure 2 months later.

Taylor's team only issues requests for certifications, and they don't typically issue discography-wide requests, but respectively for albums once they reach certain thresholds.

This is so weird. But Midnights hadn't reached 2M pure when it was certified 2x Platinum in early December – it only did so in February. What's the gag?

ETA: Midnights is the only album released in the 2020s to sell 2M pure in the US (per chartdata, second tweet below). If Folklore had moved 2M pure by last October, then it would've been the first instead of Midnights.

Chromatica probably has a chance diamond in Brazil, the equivalent to 2xPlat in Mexico, and 2xPlat Canada. They just need to update. These are all IFPI markets hihi!

I counted 'Unison' as her debut since it was her first to be released internationally but whatever the case she still has the best longevity on the list :clap3:

This is not a studio album.

Her last would then be My Love Is Your Love in 1998 which is 4x Platinum in the US

Wow I didn’t realise Prism sold that much. Those two diamond singles really carried the sales!

I didn't include OSTs for anyone as they're not credited as solo albums
