Sometimes you think you're doing magic
Sometimes you realise magic is doing you

Since it's a gapless album with transitions, it's going to sound great with how Fine Line ends and then she takes a deep breath before Only Love as if she wakes up. The intro wouldn't have worked.

They decided to cut it to guarantee the transitions from a track to another, so, it's for the best

Personally speaking yes, even if the demo had a short spoken intro to the song. Probably the presence of the writing machine sound can make the song more "crowded" and chaotic (the demo doesn't have it), but on the other hand, the guitar enforces the chorus (the demo is without guitar).

Ah thanks for the info!

Seems like the “sometimes you think you’re doing magic” part now appears in Happy instead, at least based on what was written in the Rolling Stone article

Quote

Oberon Zell, an 80-year-old wizard she met while making her podcast Kesha and the Creepies, appears on the last song, “Happy,” proclaiming: “Sometimes, you think you’re doing the magic, and sometimes you realize the magic is doing you.”

I would assume that the spoken word was by Ram Dass, who is already featured in an interlude?

yeah, probably they decided to cut it off from OLCSUN and put it on the last track. Like the “magic” thing doesn’t really fit OLCSUN me thinks :kitty:

Wow, this is HORRIBLE. The vocals in the verses are way too rough and the chorus is too loud and chaotic sounding. Really worried about the album's quality at this point.

It’s a local release so it’s officially available in countries where it’s currently 04/17

verses are fun and the longer chorus at the end is good on its own but i don't think the song works as a whole :katie:

the chorus is very 2012-2013, I don't like it. while the verses were very promising.... disappointed

I think this one is going to polarize people. It certainly achieves what High Road set out to accomplish, and I think it does it well.

I think Eat the Acid and Fine Line already sorted out the people who aren't here for a more experimental Kesha record tbh. If anything, this is way more accessible.

oh I’m definitely gonna like it then! which song on High Road would you compare it to first?

Very true! That's why I'm so happy they released those first. The people checking for this album are people that are invested in its sound and angle because they "got" the A/B lead.

Sonically, Tonight, though it is WAY less of a clusterfuck and actually well produced. Verses remind me of Ready For It.../Natalia Kills. Chorus harkens back to something you'd hear between Warrior and Rainbow if she had an album cycle during that time.
