the verses have this controversy Natalia kills sense about them - as a single it doesn't work for me but I'm sure it will make more sense in the concept of the whole album

It’s only the first verse, the chorus’s and second verse sound fantastic actually. I’m not sure what happened with the vocals in the first verse though… was it another iPhone recording situation

Personally speaking yes, even if the demo had a short spoken intro to the song. Probably the presence of the writing machine sound can make the song more "crowded" and chaotic (the demo doesn't have it), but on the other hand, the guitar enforces the chorus (the demo is without guitar).
