2:30…? Disappointing but I’m sure it’ll be amazing regardless, sometimes short songs work

Why can’t it be this weekend

Sounds much better than EA/FL

It’s giving Florence x kesha I’m so ******* hyped. Sad that there doesn’t seem to be a bridge though..

I see it as a good strategy to release it on the 17th, specially if she has promo planned for this (and maybe the only music video of the era?)

Can't wait!

Yes I hope we get a proper music video for this one.

I don’t love short songs in general but you can’t deny that having a shorter song adds replay value which could help her with streams etc.

This is true, there’s definitely a benefit and if that was their intention then I wouldn’t fault them. However just solely as a fan, for me my overall enjoyment of the song >> the streams it gets, and I do tend to enjoy fuller songs overall. But regardless I love the sound of the song and will be streaming either way :jonnycat:

.. so this is the amazing lead single her team has placed all her eggs in for this album..

The lyrics.. the length.. if this is real it seems tragic so far, were really in for High Road 2.0   RCA seems to be refusing to give her ANY budget for music videos artwork good songwriters good producers audio engineers mastering etc since it is her final album with them.. there will be hell to pay

Lemme tune in and support her

That snippet sounds like it belongs to High Road, kinda dissapointing after how great first two tracks were

Song sounds promising with a great bassline. I'll wait for the final though!

Judging from the snippets she gave us, the song hasn't been modified that much.
The version I have, one of the last ones before the final master, is just a bit longer (2:53) and has a little more guitar\few and different vocal takes, offering the same lyrics. No idea why she decided to shorten it.

The lyrics and that snippet are very High Road... good luck with that.  I'm also never quite sure what her stance on religion is.  Some of her lyrics are borderline fanatic and then she will drop a few bombs on it, make up your mind.

Does it matter? Lol. Religion is awful.

I agree, I just dislike the constant contradiction.  She trashes her religion and yet she's always trying to "talk to god" and asking to "be saved".  It's like she's only 50% in on the joke.  This can apply to some other artists too, but I just found it extra grating on High Road and in this song as well.

She said in her Iheart interview that when she talks about god she means a higher power. My partner believes in a higher power as part of his recovery but he’s sure as **** not religious.

This isn't a conceptual belief in a vague higher power (which is the basis of all religion FYI), it's flat out religious.

"Oh, Lord, save me, please God, I need your love now, Only love can save us now, Oh, Lord, save me, please God, I need your love now"

I don't really care that much about this, I'm just going to reiterate that she's contradicting herself again.

Lord and god are a lot easier to interpolate into a song as opposed to “higher being of unexplained origin”. The point is the same, and when people talk about god, they don’t all refer to the same one or thing.

No shade, but I think you're conflating without considering that the word "God" can mean something different to just about anyone. The word itself should not be relegated to one belief or religion. I fail to see how she's contradicted herself again

With that, just for argument's sake, people go through moments of doubt, suspicion, and clarity all the time. Songs, and stories for that matter, are not always intended to serve as cemented or indelible truths, rather reflections of specific moments in time. Considering everything she's been through, I think it makes perfect sense that she'd experience multiple crises of faith just like anyone else. Perhaps there are moments in which she feels resoundingly spiritual or connected and times when she feels abandoned and alone. That has less to do with contradiction and more to do with the capricious nature of life. Being able to capture all of those feelings is a beautiful practice. People are multi-faceted and shouldn't be expected to demonstrate only one side, one feeling, or one experience. Some days I feel a higher power, others I scoff at the notion. Doesn't make expressing those two sides any less valid.
