Other than sales in what world is Taylor Swift qualified to be a legend?

Because she won AOTY 3 times?

Because she has the biggest female tour?

Because she is the most successful female singer-songwriter?

But most importantly, why should we exclude her own success from herself at the very first?

Now look who is talking about sales and popularity.  You couldn't even follow your own advice.  :deadbanana2:

The 90% of the population doesn't care about performance either.  They care about the ultimate quality of the song.  Now if only there was some objective way to determine what songs 90% of the population chooses to enjoy...

Sis, most people listen to a song on the radio or on their device and go about their day. That hasn’t nothing to do with sales at all, the Olympic level mental gymnastics you just tried isn’t going to work

Didn't seem to hurt 1989 longevity as much.

1989 is a much more accesible pop album and had more hits than Lemonade had.. what’s not clicking

So 1989 has 14 times of daily streams, Speak Now has 8x, Red (OG) 4x, Fearless (OG) 4x, and Taylor Swift (2x) :cm:

longevity >> debut I fear! Oops, didn't I mention these album also had bigger debut?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forbes_Celebrity_100

So now you're talking about Celebrity 100?

So Taylor 2016 and 2019

Beyonce only 2014 :bibliahh:

I literally can't, you're so embarrassed

Im not embarrassed, just mistaken and confused by the way it was reported.

CNN —

Beyonce isn’t just one of the world’s most influential people. She’s also the world’s most powerful celebrity, according to Forbes magazine.

The publication has released its annual Celebrity 100 list and has named Queen Bey to the top spot.

I was not trying to prove anything either, just showing that there’s other lists that fall in the realm of “admired, powerful, influential etc” where both woman have topped or rated highly in in some way shape or form regardless.

You have yet to bring in any objective ideas as to what actually makes someone a legend.

You'd think Beyonce album tracks would still pull a lot of streams given how it is supposed to be a "classic" for the GP. It shouldn't need hits.

It's a yearly study conducted in over 60 countries but sure "nobody cares about this" because it doesn't back up what you wish was the truth, right?

No because nobody cares about online polls? :ace: Its serving ATRL saying twitter polls will determine the 2024 election.

Of course Beyoncé.

Taylor has absolutely no legacy. :deadbanana4:

Well, she has 3x AOTY, the biggest female tour, Olivia Rodrigo in her hands, and her golden discography which generates 7x times more daily streams than your fav, not to mention those universities and music critics like Rolling Stones who kiss her ass every day, I'm sure she will be fine! :cm:

I said: somebody will go down as one of the best live performers and singers, ever. People don’t give a **** about sales and streams (and by people, I mean people not Stan’s). You’d be punched in the Face If you went up to a stranger on the street and said: “1989 was bigger than any Aretha Franklin album, Taylor’s a bigger legend than her!” Or if you dared to say she was a bigger legend than a once in a lifetime talent like Prince :rip:

This thread is about Beyoncé vs. Taylor.

Stay on topic. Legends are recognized by their talent, influences through artists and their respect in the industry. Taylor Swift will NEVER EVER be more influential than THE Beyoncé, or have more Grammys or overall awards than her.

Do you think people care about "performances"?  You said yourself that most people just listen to music on the radio or on thier phones and don't care at all about whether there is a video somewhere of the artist shaking their hips.  What they will hear though is the quality of the songwriting.  But you of course refuse to think that matters.

And what is the relationship between this with "Taylor Swift has literally no legacy"?

This is not the thing I'm defending, so what's your point?

She already is more influential though.

Umm….yeah? Part of the reason people like Freddie Mercury, Prince, Michael Jackson etc are so revered is because of their insane live performances :rip: Michael Jackson literally exploded into the biggest star in the world because of a single live tv performance :rip: it’s something they can see with their own eyes. 99% of people don’t care who wrote what song , or even bother to find out

Is Ed Sheeran a legend because of his sales or touring? No... and neither is Taylor.

Ed Sheeran is already flopping about 11 years into his career, when he’s 17-18 years in like Taylor he’ll probably be a nobody. He also doesn’t have acclaim. Taylor has a combination of success, acclaim, and longevity that only legends can receive.

**Which, yes, Beyonce possesses those 3 qualities as well.

Does Ed Sheeran have 3x AOTY? :rip:

Does Ed Sheeran influence any new generation artist like Olivia? :rip:

Does Ed Sheeran change genre successfully like what Taylor has done? :rip:

Does the music critic and industry have the same opinion about these two artist? :rip:

How dare you put these two artists in the same sentence? This is disrespectful
