“The fact that you [Beyoncé] have paved the road that every female artist is walking down now, then the fact that you’ve done so with such kindness and such grace, I—just, to say I admire you is like, there’s just not a word for it.” -Taylor

next case. :gaycat2:
There’s only one legend here

Like taylor might be on the way to being a legend but Beyoncé is already one

I don't see how IASF can be that high, it's not selling that much pure and its streaming numbers are updated.

IASF isn't that close to 1989. In terms of pure sales it sold less than Fearless and 1989 and on par with Red despite the latter two being released in a much weaker sales environment.

Pure album sales:

1989 10,545,000

Fearless 9,970,000

IASF 7,595,000

61% percent of voters agree Beyonce is a bigger legend

These were Beyoncé’s numbers back in May of last year. Mind you IASF is by far her biggest and most global era. And I was talking about overall SPS.

Dangerously In Love - 17,353,000

B'Day - 14,875,000

I Am...Sasha Fierce - 20,227,000

4 - 9,281,000

So yeah it’s like probably like 4.5 million away at this point from 1989. It’s not a HUGE difference that’s extremely far. :rip:

I would say Taylor Swift is a legend to the gen z crowd, so basically people who use internet 24/7

My parents don't even know who Taylor Swift is. But they do know Beyoncé.

My parents know who Taylor Swift is and they confuse Beyoncé with other countless pop stars. We don’t live in the US. So you could say Taylor is the legend globally :cm:

The gap between 1989 (and even Fearless) and IASF is still increasing each day because it does much better on streaming and is still performing well in a lot of countries.

Anyway 5 million sps is very significant, it doesn't change my point that Beyonce wasn't at Taylor's peak level during her peak. Even in terms of touring the 1989 World Tour was much bigger than I Am... World Tour

1989 tour: $250.7 million (85 shows)

I Am... tour: $119.5 million (104 shows)

My parents are actually from Kosovo. And we live in The Netherlands. Sounds global to me :johnald:

You’re so annoying. :deadbanana4: It’s really not that significant…. At least not in the exaggerated way y’all made it seem. You would’ve thought it was like a 10 million difference. And sure Taylor was doing stadiums in North America at that point while Beyoncé started doing that later. She has been the bigger touring force in North America I wasn’t negating that.

My point is that Taylor during 1989 was bigger than Beyonce during IASF. Do you disagree with that?

She might be. Beyoncé has inspired and influence an entire generation from all walks of life and in every form of entertainment & culturally and that includes Taylor Swift.

I still do. What now?:rip:

Taylor herself would tell you it's Beyoncé.

Both women are at the very top of the game for this generation. We should be thankful to be in the age where we can witness these two amazing artists sprouting and becoming the music legends they are going to be. :clap3:

I'd say that Beyoncé being in the game for longer makes her "more" of a legend (I don't really like the idea that someone is more of a legend than someone else, for me you are a legend or you're not). I feel like in the case of Taylor, we'll have to wait for her to slow down success-wise for people to actually recognize and acknowledge how much impact and influence she had.

Oh wow! A level headed meaningful reply on the first page!

This is faulty and really depends around who you spend your time with irl. Purely anecdotal but I hang around a really diverse group of people through friends and work and Taylor is rarely if ever discussed as much as Beyoncé. I don’t think I’ve ever had a conversation about Swift with any black friends or colleagues for example. Same with Latino or Asian. :deadbanana4: But if you only hanged around a bunch of white people I’m sure that would change. :rip:

well i saw around 10 people in eras merch over the weekend and just had two people come up and talk about the tour with me today in public when i was wearing a folklore shirt, also she’s huge in asia and latin america so idk where that false narrative is coming from :rip:

That’s why I prefaced my statement with “purely anecdotal”. That’s my lived experience. I only see Taylor discussed on ATRL as the people around me that I interact with daily are not interested in her or at least not enough to have a conversation about her. And when she has been discussed around me which is rare it’s always been by someone white. Which is a contrast to Beyoncé who is brought up by everyone. :rip:

I’m sure you have seen people wearing her merch seeing as how she’s on a huge tour right now. I haven’t seen her stuff but I’m also not looking for it either as I don’t know what it looks like.

So your personal anecdotes as opposed to actual observable and measurable facts? Ok!

Ofcourse, but let's completely erase this aspect to show these ignorants that being a legend isnt reduced to being on top of a Billboard list....

Right?  :skull:

Umm that was a knock on Beyoncé saying “well she’s a legend cause she’s a vocalist” 💀

I thought Beyoncé was smoke and mirrors for a while until I got into Taylor. Her team does wonders for her let’s say that.

There's no universe in which Taylor is "more of" a legend than Beyonce. Either they're both legends, or Beyonce is and Taylor isn't.

This. Lemonade was quite literally one of the topics provided for an assignment for my African-American History class at university. Taylor Swift has her beat when it comes to commercial success, that is true, but Beyonce has already created such a legacy and influence that Taylor has yet to achieve. There are sayings that have been popularised by Bey (put a ring on it etc.), release strategies have been changed by her, her visual albums have influenced others to come with their own after her and buildings have been inspired by her. She's constantly creating trends and popularising them, it's quite disrespectful to deny her influence. :priceless:
