It’s gonna stay as a smash album track, as it should. Just because it’s beloved on streaming doesn’t mean much, I don’t think it would smash on radio even in 2023… which is a hot take, I guess.

52 weeks is for top 25.

Normal recurrency rule is 20 weeks or if a song is a bit older and has charted for at least 1 week. Not sure where that cutoff is, but Cruel Summer is almost certainly considered recurrent and needs to be top 50 to chart.

Was this what happened to Die For You (The Weeknd)? I knew it charted when Starboy first came out years ago but only re-entered when it had enough points for the top 50?

Yes. That also need to be top 50 to chart. Same for Sure Thing

Wouldn't you rather it remain as a smash album track than a disappointing single? It probably wouldn't be able to repeak on Billboard unless her team invested in a full court press.

The hope is that it would be a beloved ME!ga smash hit, and if it doesn’t then we just blame the GP for being tasteless or her team for not pushing it hard enough

If i was her team I would push Karma now to push Midnights and then put Cruel Summer on radio late June
