Country people leave country music playing all day in the background sometimes even when they’re sleeping or not home. Kind of like radio. This is literally the reason for it

VioletsandRoses Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 Ctrl’s longevity is insane. Will end up being the biggest female album from 2016-2017

Will end up being the biggest female album from 2016-2017 Reputation is still selling and streaming way more with a huge advantage already so I doubt that. Still though, the way it's parked in the top 40 when it wasn't initially that huge is crazy. The streaming era has made charts more interesting with how albums that stood the test of time can chart high, no matter how they did initially, how old they are, etc... Metal fans don't care about the charts at all. Only here people think that in the real world the charts mean something.

This is literally the reason for it Country people don't take songs to #1 for multiple weeks while having 2 albums (with +10x weeks at #1) in the Top5 Kind of a weird narrative tbh.

Only here people think that in the real world the charts mean something. This isn't true at all!!!!! I remember "The Disturbed Ones" bonding together to buy Asylum, released just 1 week after Teenage Dream in 2010. We bought Asylum to ensure Disturbed would get its 4th straight (of 5 total, 2018s Evolution broke the streak despite the fact The Sound Of Silence was so massive) BB 200 #1s. I remember when they came to Tampa Bay & lead singer Dave Draiman talked about this. I was at the concert that night! Sure enough Asylum pushed TD back to #2 for 1 week before TD rebounded. So, yes Metallica fans bought a bunch of 72 Seasons but Hard Rock fans are only slowly warming up to streaming. Sales weren't the issue, just streaming deficiencies. Maybe I am above average in caring given the fact I had the Rock & Country column for several years. But yeah we want to help those who we love just as others on here do for their fans. For better/worse I didn't find ATRL for 3.5 years after Asylum's release.
skizzo Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 If they didnt try to immediately cancel him he'd probably be a fad and gone by now. But after the attacks, he became seen as some sort of "martyr" and now he's everywhere... tremendous backfire. I wont deny he has crossover appeal these days, but let's not deny that his "cancellation" attempt didnt help his exposure Maybe he'll fade away again if people stop having a meltdown every time they see his name somewhere, but I doubt it.
