Universal Music Asks Streaming Services to Block AI Companies From Accessing Songs

Music being used is only the bottom of the barrel. The government needs to evaluate the risks of AI before it is too late. So much damage can be done with this.

Because AI is engineered by coders, so having to code on the back end, by request of Universal Studios, to “block” AI companies from accessing streaming services, isn’t at easy as it seems.

That’s why I tagged you to get your thoughts.

I mean, it's not really even remotely feasible because it's not even about that. AI is more so just having a massive dump of data and throwing it into a model to get output. The Large Language Models that result in tools like Bard and ChatGPT are not that advanced when you look at the individual components. I think ChatGPT has less than 100 layers of Transformer blocks with self-attention. Transformers with self-attentions are very simple constructs where there's a mask to learn relationships between input values (e.g., it might learn that "dog" and "bark" are relevant to each other in a sentence with both words). The math and logic behind the models are simple. The novelty of ChatGPT and other systems is that there are a lot of layers of these things and they're trained on the Internet.

You could basically train an AI to generate music similar to what is already out there by having it listen to the music directly. There's not really anything you could do to prevent this so long as people have the ability to record snippets and pieces of the music themselves.

See, and this is why I tagged you, sis :giraffe:

I didn’t consider any of that, so thank you
