Totally agree. The HBO brand carries a lot of weight. I guess they want it to be clear that they have shows + movies, not only HBO series, but "Max" just sounds... vague and generic.

HBO is iconic but having it with Max aside is damaging the brand. You can't have F*boy island called an HBOMax Original without deluting what makes and has made HBO so special. Same for the DC produced content and all, that,s too many brands labels.

 

I think it's smart to go for just Max as an portfolio of strong brands offering : TCM, HBO, DC, Ghibli, the **** from Discovery). To me it makes sense.
