They probably confused her with one of their local artists. :gaylorcat2:

Actually this is surprising.  6 weeks at #1 and 23 weeks in the top 5!  That’s impressive for any pop girl.

When did Belgium make their official language English, Taylor is only known in the Anglosphere after all :gaygacat6:

For those who don't know: Belgium has two official charts, one for the Flanders region (~Netherlands) and one for the Wallonia region (~France). This chart run is in the Flanders chart, where music consumption is similar to Central and Northern Europe. Taylor does far better in these countries than in France & Southern Europe, where the GP has a very different music taste and the English level is poor to say the least.

I'm so proud of my country on this one :jonny:

But she's "local" so it doesn't count i guess.

Surprised that the most global artist this decade is pulling incredible numbers in random European countries? Not at all.

Belgium, Texas?

@thetea so this is the type of insufferable thread you talk about?

I once did karaoke in Bruxelles. The Belgians are a riot. Good times.

Wait isn’t that in Europe? I thought people said she was local?

You’re in America. The US stations I listen to still play Anti-Hero so much, I hear it more than LH tbh.

Ikr. I thought Taylor had trouble in the French speaking markets.

So is Anti-Hero big in Liège too?

I'm in Latin America tho, I'm from Venezuela, but I hear U.S. radio pretty often, yes. But Pop radio didn't overplay AH that much, I mean, sure during its peak in December-January, but I wish it was more overplayed. I hear LH more now, except on HAC radio.

Exactly. "Anti-Hero" only peaked at #13 in Wallonia & #5 on Billboard's Belgium Songs chart (which combines both Flanders & Wallonia and unlike Ultratop's charts, does not include airplay in the singles chart).

It would be funny if LH ends up having more longevity on Pop without the big peak :rip:

I’m not surprised. Taylor has been massive in Belgium since around 2019, where Lover (single) had arguably its best chart run of any country there. And then folklore was huge, and her catalogue exploded.

She’s charting 9 albums there, currently:

12. Midnights

24. 1989

35. Lover

36. folklore

48. reputation

66. evermore

70. Red (Taylor’s Version)

132. Speak Now

155. Fearless (Taylor’s Version)

Belgium (Flanders) is basically to Mainland Europe what Philippines is to Asia for her, at this point. She absolutely eviscerates there. So I’m not that shocked that the massive interest in her has finally culminated in a proper, giant hit single. Anti-Hero is probably her biggest single in Europe ever (overall) as well.
