BUT, the last hope regarding SD-08 is that Milwaukee County (as of this post) is still just under half-reported. GOP needs supermajority in both house and senate to impeach and remove her. They don’t have that. Even then if they did, Evers appoints the replacement without approval from anyone
Ms. Togekiss Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 oh thank god. This had me worried all day. WI conservatives are an interesting kind... 32 minutes ago, Bears01 said: Wisconsins 1849 abortion ban law is very likely to get struck down, and Wisconsin is the most gerrymandered state in the nation. It’s very likely to get new maps. This is GREAT given how Milwaukee is probably the most segregated city in the country and the immediate suburbs are disgustingly red, I'm not surprised it is the most gerrymandered state. I would have thought TX or OH but WI makes a lot more sense (especially since its still a swing state unlike TX and OH)
LustSpell Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 (edited) Unfortunate the supermajority was kept, but this is a step in the right direction. It's crazy how severe this gerrymander is Edited April 5, 2023 by LustSpell

In a purple state like Wisconsin, that’s as big of a statement as it can get
SoldierofLove Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 I’m educating myself on the significance of this win and I am here for it!

Easily the biggest election pre 2024, and it’s probably up there with some of the Dems biggest wins from the midterms. Massive implications
BletaRexher Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 Wisconsin is really turning their **** around with only one major city Nebraska needs to do the same, get your **** together Omaha you make up half the state

Mordecai Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 The politicisation of America's judicial system is weird
Helios Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 This almost makes up for them giving us that DISGUSTING Republican senator Ron Johnson for another 6 years. What were they thinking? I know gen z can only do so much though.

You get what you vote for in this case, and WI made their choice loud and clear, where issues like abortion and rigged gerrymandered maps was essentially put up for a vote by the public, and they were put up for a vote in arguably the most prominent swing state in the country

Bang Up Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 fantastic news for democracy. seeing the long lines of students/young people voting has me so hopeful for the future. the republicans really didn't think the young people cared enough to start voting in numbers we've been seeing. these kids are pissed and they are going to take over.
Vermillion Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 @ClashAndBurn @Bears01 Quote Knodl said Sunday he would consider launching impeachment proceedings for criminal justice officials "who have failed" at their jobs. If 50 members of the 99-seat Assembly have voted to impeach, the state Senate must conduct a trial. A conviction requires support from two-thirds of the state Senate, which could prove difficult as it would take every Senate Republican's approval. If convicted, an impeached public official is then removed from office and cannot hold another office in the future. Republicans have a 64 to 35 majority in the Assembly. If Knodl wins election to the Senate he had would leave the Assembly and lift the Republican majority in the Senate to 22-11. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
RunUpDoneUp Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 This is odd, repubs said a lot of americans are upset about abortion, guess their wedge issues are made up, huh? Congrats to the winners who don't suck.
Mike91 Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 The Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade likely ****** over republicans in major races in swing states for the next 10 years. At this point, all Biden has to do in 2024 is mention abortion and the Supreme Court every other sentence.

I….kinda agree? There’s really no major Republican politician who can run away from the issue, unless they’re competing in a state they have no chance of winning like Colorado. The suburbs said loud and clear: NO

Here electorate boundaries are drawn by an independent commission, and we don't have loonies for judges. I feel sorry for America sometimes
