Totami Legend Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Imagine if they did an animated series with the studio who did Arcane. That would be crazy good 2
fridayteenage Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Paapa Essiedu is reportedly frontrunner for Snape. Interesting that it appears they'll go with the ages in the books instead of generally aging the adults up 20 years.
Eóghan Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 It's also been delayed again 1 year further to 2027 https://www.nme.com/news/tv/harry-potter-tv-series-has-been-delayed-until-2027-3818883 not a bad thing, the further away from the movies the better. the gap grows to 16 years since last movie and now 26 years since the last "philosopher stone" adaptation
Arrows Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 The group of writers that has been announced isn't a very promising bunch… One is the showrunner's sister with zero writing credentials, one proudly stated half a year ago that they never read the books, and the last one ruined season 4 of Killing Eve 1 13
Bad_vocal_technique Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 I just re watched the first 2 films after recently reading the books. and I absolutely agree that spreading the books into different episodes could be great as the films left me feeling that a lot of important events just get cramped into nothingness and how frustrating it is.

Honestly, if they **** this thing up, they're never getting to work again in their lives. 2

I have like totally opposite opinion. I have yet to start reading Half Blood Prince but so far movies were much better than books because filler was definitely cut for a reason. Except that cool story about Black in PoA. Like do we really need to see Hermione with her annoying club? 2

It isn't crucial to the exact story - but it's an interesting part of Hermione's character. Why would we not want to see it when there will now be a full season instead of a shortened movie? 2

Book material was translated pretty well into movies. There's not much meat to extend stories from 2h to 8h. 1

It is interesting though, Hermione spent a huge part if the year doing this, it was a huge part of her personality. It may be boring for casuals but the fans want to see everything

At this point I am 100% sure that 'books are better than movies' people are just using that as personality trait thinking it gives them some kind of prestige.

Blade Runner Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Those thinking this show is gonna have at least 10% of the quality of the movies are DELULU. Those films were composed, acted, and directed by Oscar winning people. You won't get actors like Maggie Smith, Emma Thompson, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, and so many others. Let alone people like freaking Alfonso Cuarón or John Williams. It's gonna be sh+t, and I'll pray for it to be sh+t because JK deserves nothing. 6 1

Yeah I'm expecting this tv show to be on Series of Unfortunate Events levels of mess. Like say what you want about that one ASOUE movie but the Tim Burton direction plus the visuals and the cast are so superior from the tv show that looks like a Discovery Kids show in comparison 1
nathanspears Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 Why is this still a thing? It's going to be a DISASTER. 1
Kern Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 The quality of tv series in general has never been worse. This will be just another disaster
AccioMiley Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 Thinking the movies are better than the books should be a crime. I would love to see S.P.E.W. Winky and ludo bagman are fairly essential to Barty Crouch Jr. And his story. I want Morfin and Marvolo Gaunt + the story of Tom Riddle Sr. And Voldys mom. I have wanted this series since goblet of fire (the movie) came out completely butchered 2 2
