i enjoyed it a lot more than the first, you can tell the effects and quality improved quite a lot from the first, but im currently on Azkaban and it puts the previous two to SHAME :toofunny2:

Has also a lot to do with the directors. Chris Columbus did the first 2 and he is known for Home Alone for example. I have to say HP 1 and 2 are actually kinda Christmas movies. They are bright and childish and... christmas-y to me.

I would rather get more Chris Columbus content than whatever David Yates did to the last 4 movie adaptations. They look lifeless and without character and lowkey a bore to get through.

I'm tired of these reboots, remasters, remakes... Have people run out of ideas already? HP movies are not even that old...

This could be good BUT they should have a firm and fresh creative vision including new castle design, logo and music. That they have gone the opposite (business-sensible I guess) route doesn't bode well for a creatively-justified reinterpretation - though maybe all this is placeholder who knows.

I think TF not :biblio:

yes that’s one thing im looking forward to with this show - the consistency - the visions between each director were pretty different and it really shows. this was a good thing when i was watching them in cinema as a kid bc the overall feelings of the films were becoming more mature as i was growing up, but it makes rewatching them all as an adult really jarring bc you go from one film to the next and it’s a completely different vibe

anyway im about to start goblet of fire on my rewatch :thing:

Two things I'm excited about:

  • I want a Dumbledore like the first two movies. The way he is in the books. Not that awful version Gambon gave us (totally ruined the character IMO).
  • Coherence in style.
  • More Hogwarts school stuff (like in Hogwarts Legacy), that's what made the success of the books IMO, more than the Vilain-Of-The-Book.
  • Having a younger McGonagall. Love Maggie Smith but always felt they cast too old on movie 1.
  • Goblet of Fire will be epic. The worts movie and the best book.

Give us a Black Hermione or keep it

All they need to do is hire the right writers and cast a good lineup

Let Alfonso do it!!

Lots of opportunity to fix the movies, which aren't that faithful to the books (the hogwarts final battle is also terrible and Voldemort turning to ash, when the whole point was to prove he was just a man at the end of the day, not some superhuman god) Looking forward to seeing Firenze, Peeves, all the horcrux flashbacks showing how Voldemort got the horcruxes in the first place, and not seeing wands connect like lightning together when that only happens between Harry/Voldemort like... once or twice

This applies to the whole cast. We need younger James, Lily, Sirius, Lupin, Peter and so on. What makes the Potters' death a tragedy is the fact they're REALLY young, like early 20's. They have to pay attention to casting this time.

Harry Potter films are one of my fave things in this world. I wish I was excited about this but I'm really not feeling it at all :emofish: Maybe it would have hiT more if they did it next decade instead. There will never be another cast like the one from the films (yes I know they unfaithful to the books). It's just soooo hard to replicate. And 1 season per book is....ambitious to say the least so I wish them an ounce of luck keeping people interest that long lol.

But yeah I'll still be perched for the first season obviously.

I think something y’all keep forgetting is the reason why fantastic beast flopped was the writing was horrible. The critics and fans hated the writing. Plus David Yates clearly is a talentless director the only reason he was kept around was because he is cheap and does “her” bidding. Fans hated him and there is a reason why the films took a nose dive once he took over. Fans did like the idea of dumboldore story but they wanted a mini series and the fantastic beast movie should’ve always just been one film and many fans agree with that.

I just hope he isn’t brought back ever again.

Can't wait to see how they'll recreate my fav book and movie, Prisoner of Azkaban :jonny2:

I’m surprised but at the same time I’m not. I really didn’t think they would do this so soon, honestly. I thought it would have been at least another decade or so. The films still feel too fresh. It would have been better to wait till the 20th Anniversary of Deathly Hallows Part 2.

but if they’re going to pop the ballon so soon they better do it right. You really only get one chance in a lifetime to reboot Harry Potter.
