Shawn's Harry Potter is coming :jonnycat:

Spoiler

this just unlocked a new kink for me

Excited for the series:jonny5:

I hope they do the secondary characters justice. The films were visually stunning but didn't develop anyone's character (besides the characters who were already strong in the books), and I hope the producers can bring out a richer and more vibrant, multifaceted cast of characters.

10 years though

The movies were so massive anything else will just feel like some bootleg.

And no shade but books 4-7 were a nose dive imo. :katie:

Prisoner of Azkaban was a perfect ending.

Will there be differences to the films or are they just going to repeat those storylines?

Well they will be based on the same books so... :rip:

But ofc the tv show will be much more complete and will cover tons of storylines that were cut from the movies. It will be nice to watch a complete adaption of the Goblet of Fire... so much was cut from the movies :weeps:

Why do a show on the books? Why not do a show with a new story, new characters, new settings etc. There is no way the actors are gonna live up to what DER gave us

Well that's a positive thing about the tv show... movies 4-7 were lowkey bad because they had to fit 500 pages in 2 hour movies. So much was cute from Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix and Half Blood Prince that the tv show will probably be better at adapting the whole thing because they will have time.

and the complete fight section of OotP. i'm excited for the complete thing because i feel like the movies are so inconsistent due the fact they were made alongside with the release of the books. that's the only thing keeping me excited for this. imagine how good it would be to have hogwarts the same since day one? not changing troughout the series because the story asked to.

Harry Potter is a classic.

We have 850 versions of pride and prejudice. I don't get the "why the same story?."

We're gonna have new HP versions forever and on the next century they're gonna have things like Harry Potter vs Dracula.

Hp Is exactly as iconic and timeless as Dracula, Frankenstein, Sherlock Holmes etc..

Excited for this but also cautious, hard to imagine a cast that lives up to the original one. Let alone the gorgeous production design of the movies…

Hopefully they cast more than one token Asian girl with barely any lines.

Cautiously excited!

Yeah that will be nice too. One thing that always annoyed me was how the dementors changed from 3 to 5 like they were so perfect in Prisoner of Azkaban and then when they came back for Order of the Phoenix it was some bootleg version like why they feel the need to downgrade them so bad :dies:

:deadbanana4: :rip: The lore for this series is so thin and nonexistent.. they had the chance to do some original worldbuilding outside of Hogwarts/Fantastic Beasts, but it's going to be the same story everyone's read for the past 25 years

This is extremely unnecessary. :biblio:

Same logo, same score, same set. The way this is just a lame ass cash grab to reinforce the existing iconography  :bibliahh:

Won’t be **** without the SAME CAST, though, considering that’s the magic and irreplaceable part of the formula.

The way you just know that HBO has already written the contracts forbidding any cast or crew member from discussing LGBT rights or criticizing the executive producer. This is basically going to be a massive gag order on the British entertainment industry. :biblio:

I hope they don't try to make this modern American in an attempt at memes like Wednesday show :biblio:

Hope they cast talented kids like the "Stranger Things" cast I don't know who was in charge of casting in that show but they struck gold

As much as love the original casting you have to admit they were dreadful kid actors, thankfully they got better as adults (especially Daniel and Rupert) but as kids/teenagers, they had terrible acting skills lmao

I think the movies are still so fresh in everyone's minds and hearts, not sure if this is a good idea. There was way more room for interesting spin-offs, it's such a huge universe.

If they're really doing this, they need to do it right. We need GOT-level budget and great directors/show runners.

The video game already did that. There was a lot lgbtq representation in the video game and received a lot postitive critical acclaim. There was no backlash or banning involved.

I'm so ******* excited :jonny5:

The amount of details and character growth that the movies had to exclude due to time constraints will all be shown in the series

Also if they're really doing a decade-long tv show with one season a year they could very well do the first two seasons about Harry's parent, the marauders and the first wizarding war against Voldemort like that would be SO amazing and create much more hype for the actual Harry adventures :foxaylove2:

You made several points, I just hope we get original content at someone point. The video game proved Harry Potter brand can succeed with original story and characters. Plus this franchise needs major world building. I just hope it’s not the same story we already been hearing for 25 years.

People just don't care about the world building of this universe. They just want Harry, Hermione, Ron, Voldemort, the School, the lesson and everything.

Hp success is for the characters, not because the saga outside Hogwarts It's original or exciting. It's Hogwarts. It's Harry and his scarf. They love this story.

It's one of the most beloved story of all time. It's the count of Montecristo of the new century for the gp readera. People want that story, not an origin story about some b side character, finally they realized It.

I really hope so expanding the original Harry Potter and have some focus on the Harry’s parents and rise of Voldemort will be perfect. Let’s hope we get further character development and world building then I will fully support it.

Also I hope this is not A Series of Unfortunate Events mess where the tone of the tv show was super childish and colorful compared to the more dark vibe from the movie :rip:
