ks_dollar Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 The geepee is finally giving up the tired, stale, boring, kids' genre
mathekr Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 The GP wants the X-MenVerse, not these c-list characters from Marvel
theoghon Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 They are dumbing down comic book movies too much, I really hope Disney's acquisition has nothing to do with it cause...MESS Comic book films DO have the potential to be transcendental and profound/have a deep message but Marvel, a big stakeholder doesn't want to get serious, I mean at some point everyone gets sick on pointless cringey one-liners. Also the dumbing down and comedy-fication of characters such as Thor over the years, he's basically a different individual from Thor 1
loveisdead9582 Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 There’s a couple of reasons. For DC: The scripts are lackluster at best There was supposed to be this whole big combined universe that kept getting cancelled, scrapped, recast, rewritten, etc What marvel did well was making it all one big universe. Viewers were invested. It’s hard to be invested in a story when you know that it’s kind of subpar writing and you have no idea if any potential plot points for sequels will actually happen With Marvel oversaturation of the market with the quality going down with what seemed like each project. Balancing humor with drama. Marvel killed off some of its main cast (heroes and villains). You do need some sort of connection for audiences to want to continue to watch your products. The writing has just been bad lately. Marvel phase 1 had some stumbles too so it makes sense that they’re grasping at straws to see what works. The problem is that they launched so much in such a small time they didn’t have time to adapt and change what they needed to in phase 4 theres obviously still a market for superhero media, but they need to get on board with its QUALITY over QUANTITY.
Young Volcanoes Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 people are tired, this will keep happening until these greedy capitalist corporations allow different more NEW movies to take up the slots of their shitty remakes and superhero movies
WildAmerican Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 i think people just don't give a **** about antman and shazam call me when avengers, batman or spiderman flops
shinyshimmery Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 Marvel bc they're stupid and either killed off or wrote out their most established cast (Scarlett, Robert, Chris Evans, Elizabeth Olsen (maybe?)) DC bc they're even stupider with all of their reboots, also the DC universe is so messed up it doesn't make sense. Hopefully Joker 2 helps it redeem itself. Also, I'm lowkey really glad that Zack Snyder is out of the picture.... his movies were not good.
Blue. Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 1 hour ago, Love Drought said: Not really if we’re talking about box office numbers. DC has been a mess for years. No one expected Shazam, Black Adam, The Suicide Squad to be huge blockbuster hits. They should be worried when their well renowned IPs flop, which is basically Batman and Superman. Joker and The Batman (depending on the success of the Penguin series and the sequel) will keep them afloat for a while. As for Marvel, Ant-Man has never been huge. Eternals and Shang Chi were never gonna bring in huge numbers. Doctor Strange was probably the only real box office disappointment but 900 million ain’t that bad. The real test will be X-Men and Fantastic Four since those characters are more known to the GP. But also none of them had China. People are comparing it to pre MCU ban numbers.
JustLikeHoney Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 No one cares about these characters. Spiderman and Batman movies are doing fine.
Dark Phoenix Posted March 29, 2023 Posted March 29, 2023 People care for the main characters and having good production value, enough with the generic dumb movie era
Smarticle Posted March 29, 2023 Posted March 29, 2023 Marvel needs to space it out better with all the content they're pushing out and give more time for CGI to be worked on to look good DC needs to stop rebooting **** over and over
Bears01 Posted March 29, 2023 Posted March 29, 2023 No Spider-Man, no Batman=no box office! In all seriousness, DCs brand is damaged badly, and Marvel has kinda already peaked, and their movies are getting worse and worse
Kisuke Posted March 29, 2023 Posted March 29, 2023 Marvel will be fine when the big hero movies drop, Antman is one of the least exciting to look at
