So was she fooled by the spirits into thinking Riley needed to die? But then his sister was actually chasing after them at the end.... How was he suddenly okay in the hospital aftermath - like he wasn't actually in limbo at all? And her dad suddenly walking fine? Or was it all an ideal dreamscape after she died:celestial5: So many questions...

All this could've been prevented once they found out another spirit seemed to be taking over Riley tbh :giraffe:

This was a cute thriller

Still thinking about this movie over a day after seeing it. My favorite horror film of the year. Felt so bad for Mia and her unrelenting grief, and need to seek out family.

The ending was tragic, and I knew it was coming from the very beginning.

Brilliant way to give her character a way to redeem herself in the future. I can see her becoming a spirit trying to help others rather than hurt them.

best horror movie since Pearl

idk if i was necessarily ‘scared’ but there were lots of tense moments and some of the gore scenes made me have to turn my eyes away :mazen:

the family/social dynamics add an extra emotional layer i don’t usually feel when watching this genre which made this really special

This was cute! Main actress slayed and I thought her friend looked like Lorde.

The pacing was a bit off but I liked the comedic moments mixed with dark imagery.. definitely didn’t expect the gore :deadbanana:

I thought this was just fine :michael: The premise was pretty basic, but it worked just fine for most of the film. I def had an issue with the "rules" established (like Mia suddenly having the ability to speak to specific people with no explanation :skull:)

But the biggest issue was the ending imo. That's just no clarification for why things turn out how they do, and I thought the callback moment (which I knew was coming as soon as I saw it) was handled pretty clumsily.

Is this worth-watching? It's going to be released here next Thursday and I'm curious about it (would be my first movie after Barbieheimer). :giraffe:

@JungleJuice was right this film was boring & didn’t bring anything new or exciting to horror. The premise has so much potential for being different, but it was executed so poorly that i just can’t recommend this film. It feels like it’s leading up to some thing only for it to lead to nothing so disappointing.

Wait for streaming…..

I will say the acting in the film was really great though for what they were given.

The only good scene was when the younger brother took his turn.

That’s it.

The brother scene is very a24 and gave Hereditary vibes. I was hungry for more of it.

the prequel is probably more of a short film and they said its a screenlife film so thats interesting, and the sequel will most likely be anthology style, seeing where else the hand lands and what it does. I think thats pretty ripe for exploration.

Wow a sequel planned already :duca:

I was thinking this but she was so consumed by grief. I think when someone is like that for so long, they become a different person unintentionally.

I think calling her a "selfish idiot" is just completely missing the point of her character arc tbh

I hope they release the short along with the Digotal/VOD release

This looks like it’s going to be their most basic film yet. But it’ll do for a Saturday night movie time.

The first trailer left such a bad impression on me. The movie was really good. Positively surprised. Excited to see more of it!
