Pop emergency: Ed Sheeran debuts #23 on Spotify

I mean...Ed told us he'd take a long break and didn't so maybe he should take another break and come back in full form later this decade.

I feel like WE need a break from him and this is proof of this.

One hit

One hit

One hit

One hit wonder

Two songs with one week in the top ten each

That’s really nothing special. Lavender Haze hasn’t done well, SZA has no follow up to Kill Bill, River barely debuted top 40, PinkPantheress has yet to prove herself beyond getting carried by an Ice Spice remix, and Shakira isn’t exactly showing much staying power beyond her frontloaded debuts.

they are all still smashing tho- how many acts actively have multiple songs getting massive airplay and streams rn? if that's your argument then it doesnt hold much weight.

I blame Max Martin. He’s been producing nothing but flops since Save Your Tears (2020)

Yes kind of soft debut

But dont get to happy.... we all know at the end he always wins, it could rise or have longetivity

alot of people seemed to dislike Bad Habits but i liked it more than Shivers as well as Eyes Closed.

Eyes Closed is officially the Sweetest Pie of 2023. The only question left is if Ed's team will let this one go or if he will payola this to 20 weeks on the chart.

You said the pop girls are flopping just as hard as this

Whether it’s one hit or not is irrelevant as barely anyone has multiple hits in the streaming era, the fact remains that they were much bigger debuts than this

Especially Taylor who debuted 10 songs in the Top 10

Okay, so maybe not all of them. Fact still remains that Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, two women this website stans for, have flopped harder with their latest releases. Meghan Trainor also couldn’t go top ten with her cute little TikTok single and her follow up to that has performed abysmally. Miley’s album was also a flop and debuted only one song in the top 40 (which was just barely) and couldn’t even make the top 2 on the BB200.

Taylor is and has always been an exception with unprecedented success, but the fact remains that Anti-Hero isn’t going to last forever and she doesn’t have a successful follow up waiting in the wings. Ed’s debuts are never indicative of his overall performance, which is a trait that Dua Lipa has shared honestly: Sweetest Pie was her highest debut at the time of its release iirc, and it went on to be one of the biggest flops she’s had since becoming an established artist.

LH is a decent hit imo.

now i see his team will go all the way on radio and keep the rest of streaming budget for next one. literally 'big energy' chart run and multiple weeks top 10 coming with zero stream.

performances or tiktok dance wont save the song as number indicated, smh he should pull surprise album on launch like forklore/self-title with these sound.

I’m not a fan of Big Energy, but its #3 peak was legitimate. It was #1 in sales (it blocked AIW from debuting #1 on there), #3 on radio, and #6 on streaming during the second week at its peak on the Hot 100.

did BH serve a -21 or are you still so sure he'll smash  :gaycat6:

Yall dont celebrate just yet. We all know how his teams plays. His team is just as ruthless as Duas. They will not let this bomb it will have 1b streams in no time

Bad Habits flopped at first then they forced into a huge radio-carried hit in the end
