AMAs cancelled, is this the start of award shows's demise?

I've been thinking that since the American Music Awards got cancelled this year, Is this gonna be the end of award shows?

Nobody cares about the AMAs :rip: They’re like the BBMAs, and a cut below the Kids Choice Awards :rip:

What? I thought they were just moved to later in the year? Or was that the BBMAS?

None of them should exist except the Grammys

With the BBMAs moving to fall, they’re essentially “replacing” the AMAs, so they’re not being held

Sadly

Yeah, pretty much this, they were entertaining when artists used to put interesting performances and they had impact on iTunes. :nicole:

The Oscars, the GRAMMYs, the Latin GRAMMYs, the EMMYs, the NAACP Image Awards, the Tony Awards, the BRITs, the BAFTAs, the SAGs, the CMA Music Awards, and the Golden Globes aren’t going anywhere.

Nobody cares about awards shows in general anymore. They are one of those things we left in the pre-pandemic world. I mean who cares about millionaires kissing each other’s asses and massaging their egos.

Keep these. Those acting award shows remain relavant with the yearly exiciting best actor / actress race. The other stupid music awards like VMAs, BBMAs, AMAs can go.

Streaming (no one under 35 actually has a tv with cable television) and social media killed music award shows. Plus no cares for fan voted awards.

The acting ones are fine/remain unbothered cause there demographic has always been smaller so to speak.

they were not bad at all to be honest. the MTV emas are worst and useless, they should be cancelled too.

Funny since it is the best American award show

Many iconic performances are fron AMAs

The one which should get cancelled is iHeartRadio Award
