T.O.A.D.S. Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 Quote It is the title track from her ninth studio album American Life (2003), and was released digitally as the lead single from the album on March 24, 2003, by Maverick Records. It is a pop, techno and folk song written and produced by Madonna and Mirwais Ahmadzaï; the lyrics to "American Life" feature violent transitions and a political and religious view from Madonna. She questions the shallowness of modern life and the American Dream during the presidency of George W. Bush.
Fastlane Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 Do I have to change my thongs? Will it get me far? Am I gonna be a star?
Axelios Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 Embarassing song and album that only her delusional fans can defend.
Somnambulist Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 Unpopular opinion - I honestly don’t like this album much at all and despite being super messy and disjointed I’d rather listen to MDNA (Girl Gone Wild, Love Spent, Masterpiece, and Falling Free are all songs I enjoy listening to- but don’t get me wrong, MDNA is also pretty bad)
Virgos Groove Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 The only salvageable thing about this song is the video... which she scrapped (understandably, but still).
LikeaRebel Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 I love the song and the video is one of her best.
Rev8 Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 Forward thinking dont know why pissy atrlers in here are acting like it's so wretched it's cute
Price88 Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 Her first lead single to flop. It was such a bad song though. The whole album was terrible. To think she release ray of light five years prior, her best. Well she came back with confessions, so it wasn’t a total loss. Everyone talked about Mariah’s comeback but we can’t forget madonnas either that year.
Oktober Knight Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 I'll never forget how excited I was for this album just to be completely disappointed upon the first listen.
pisuke Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 One of her best albums. She should upload the uncensored HD version on YT. Embarrassing would be y'all taste if you think this album is not A CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED MASTERPIECE.

TheRealGâteau Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 The worst song on her best album (yes, even I'm So Stupid is better). Must admit the live version during MXT kinda worked.
ArtForFreedom Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 a risky political bop.. not everyone has that
confide in me Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 If only the Bush machine wasn't so strong and she scrapped the rap
Chris Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 She really took a risk with this one. The way everyone wanted her head on a platter.
PoisonPill Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 Today is 20 years since the release of the American Life album... that sounds strange to write out. A remix album just dropped on streaming. Madonna's backlash era, a divisive album that has improved with age. It gave us two of her best tracks of the 2000s.
C_Colstead Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 I've grown to love this album over time. I think it's one of her most underrated works.
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted April 22, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted April 22, 2023 Still her worst album but I’ll give it some love. Nobody knows me and die another day classics
John Slayne Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 top 5 album in her discography, deaf people hate to hear this truth!
