Most of Beyoncé’s peers failed at matching her success, why?

Alicia keys is not that good of a singer. They used to call her alicia off key, she always sounds like she’s screeching when she tries to belt live

Britney Spears has sold way more records than Beyonce

No, she didn‘t. She sold more albums but Bey sold more records thank to her great digital sales.

She's one of the only black women in pop in the past 20 years so there hasn't been much competition.

There are a lot of other black women in pop music and she still competes with the white girls anyway, I don’t get the point of you posting this. It’s really ignorant

She’s super talented, has a strong work ethic, always puts forth her best work, beautiful and sexy, debatably the best performer in pop music history. She’s proof that when you’re good at what you do and always try your best you’ll be rewarded. Her projects that don’t do well at first have usually ended up successful in the long run because they are AMAZING

She’s far more talented and driven than all of them, including Shakira :foxaylove2:

The reason is because she's basically the only black female R&B artist so of course she's going to be successful because she fills that slot in the industry. Rihanna does too of course but she's more of a pop star instead of a hip-hop artist.

I know the OP isn't hive, but the Hive in here is acting really entitled :rip:

and now yall are being defensive because other members are pointing out Her shortcomings compared to her peers

Thread is actually about Longevity, which Bey rightfully has over the others, because she actually has work ethic/drive, and did things with a Plan.

But she deffo doesn't have the biggest impact

and the random hate against Alicia here? :biblio:

dont go back now

There are other black women in the industry right now and have been all throughout her career. She debuted when whitney janet mariah and Toni Braxton were at the height of their success and was competing with TLC in her girl group. When she went solo there was Ashanti, Alicia and soon after rihanna now there’s lizzo, sza, HER, summer walker, normani (kinda) her own protege chloe and hella rap girls who kinda see more success than the pop stars now like nicki doja and meg anyway. Of ALLLLL the women I mentioned only rihanna and whitney have made more pop music than Beyoncé. like what you’re saying is just flat out wrong

Bonus:

Lemonade - 2M pure sales in the US

Anti - ~700k pure sales in the US

Looks like she isn't making up for the deficit in pure sales any time soon.

That 38 million includes 2.5 million from Dreamgirls Soundtrack and TG and EIL numbers too, so it's not 6 albums but 9. Not to mention that Beyonce re-released B-Day, IASF and her self-titled album multiple times and released her first album in 2003 in the physical era, so the difference is minimal. For a King and album seller those numbers are not all that.

She’s the most versatile compared to her R&B peers making her the more versatile pop star in general. She’s a staple in black culture too, which is American culture, hence her undeniable impact. She’s just a timeless, class act and always will be. She was never a fad, and will forever be irreplaceable. Also, many of those MPG’s are versatile (Xtina in particular), but Beyoncé does a better job at all around innovating while simultaneously keeping the people interested.

No it doesn’t.

DIL 11m

bday 6.5m

IASF 8.5m

4 4m

BEYONCE 4m

lemonade 3.5m

her album sales are not “all that” because other than DIL, they all came out in the digital single era. Next to her peers her album sales are amazing and very consistent. Once again, why is everyone lying on Beyoncés name? Very weird

And Rihanna's total includes the Home OST, GGGB Reloaded, the deluxe versions of Loud/ANTI, et cetera  DC outsold Rihanna in pure with only 4 albums, now what?

Why are Dua fans coming for Beyoncé all of a sudden? :toofunny3:

not something new:rip: they like to attack artists who smash organically

OT: most of her music is not my cup of tea but she is clearly very talented and people see that, thats why she is so respected and can still sell organically
