In the end pop girls aren't the most remembered tracks of each year when nostalgia hits. It is what it is. Oasis Wonderwall is at 1.6b...i don't think there's a pop hit from a woman in the 90's that hits these numbers, not even AIWFCIY Guns n Roses have one song about to hit 1.5b from the 80s and 2 songs about to hit 1b...all from the same album from the 80s. No pop girl does this. Linkin Park from the 00's have 2 songs about to hit 1.5b this year: Numb and In The End. What pop girl from the early 00's have these numbers from songs that didn't even hit #1? Not even Beyonce's Halo is there yet. Stuff like Let Her go is also about to hit 2b streams, Somebody That I Used to Know is at 1.3b, Imagine Dragons have Believer at 2.5b, Thunder at almost 2b and Radioactive at 1.5b

While the pop listeners are more open to the new things, to the trends so they listen a lot more modern-recent music than the average rock listener. right now for a pre 2010 song i would say 1-1.5B streams is what makes a rock song a classic for a pop song 750M-1B. ATRL Moderator Ampersand13 Posted March 22, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted March 22, 2023 I respect Hozier and obviously this is an incredible accomplishment, but this is one of those songs in which I will actively change the station the second I hear it come on. I don’t know why, but I truly cannot stand it. Hozier is a great vocalist and I thinks it’s awesome the song resonates with so many people, but I’ve always been a bit baffled by its reception. Congratulations though!
