I think he was destined to be a one album wonder but got lucky with his disclosure and Billie collabs so he extended his peak for a couple months Tho he has yet to release his next album so we will see

bijonse Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 The weeknd, most of her discography is r&b and he’s kind of the blueprint artists like PND and Brent faiyaz follow
Sscorpionn Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 It’s Frank Ocean. He’s the male SZA The Weeknd sprinkling a few R&B songs in his albums does not make him the king of R&B. The same way Rihanna isn’t the queen of R&B. The bulk of their discography and hits is pop.

remming Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 I mean Chris Brown is still most popular but I associate him with Millenials. I feel like Frank doesn't release enough. I have no idea how ppl feel about him now. I feel like people associate the Weeknd with pop music now. It would have been Khalid but he's been stuggling to find another hit so I'm going with Brent. A lot of gen z that love r&b really likes his music. I feel like he's the best fit.

Brent & Steve definitely Top 2 for the past 2 years in terms of brand Not sure what happened with Giveon, kind of fell in a dry era. But I think he could come back his next album

But I think he could come back his next album Very true. I did think about picking Steve but I am not sure if people only care about him right now because of how big Bad Habits is. It could be another Khalid situation. I feel like I have been hearing about Brent for a few years now and he's been consistent. EDIT: About Giveon, I like his music but I didn't even know he released an album last year. Was it even promoted? I downloaded the one from 2021 and I feel like I haven't seen him anywhere. Where's his exposure? Edited March 20, 2023 by remming
Dr. Alexander Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 The Weeknd. I am very disappointed in Brent and the way his career is going sonically though. I feel as if he would be a gigantic star if he did the europop-R&B sound that is becoming popular again. He unfortunately peaked artistically with his first album too.
crf13 Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 If they had taste, they’d say Miguel, but we all know they’d name the one that’s more of a pop star, at this point.
Ger Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 I kinda feel The Weeknd is seen more as a pop artist rather than R&B, and that perception has intensified in recent years. I honestly think Breezy leads the pack here, we hate to see it, but he's been able to crossover to these new young audiences.
Alldeezy Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 I feel the weeknd even tho I see him more as pop
Kiss It Better Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 idk but it should've been Mac Ayres p.s. if Khalid or Giveon is named king of R&B then R&B is DEAD

B-Luke Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Khalid until 2020, now it‘s Frank but he really needs to release something quick Chris keeps having hits of course but he‘s too inconsistent. I don‘t consider Abel R&B anymore, he pretty much fully transitioned into pop.

Theshigo Washidu Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Chris Brown I would've said The Weeknd but he's now pop.
