Scott borchetta got power until Speak now.

Then everything was on Taylor.

 

She wrote shake it off as last song of 1989, she went back to Max Martin and said to him we have to make a bop with the most generic lyrics, the rest of the songs of the album are still not that enough generic to make a pop global smash. She wasn't feel safe with Blank Space. 

 

For what she has said in interviews the label was absolutely scared to launch red with We are never as the first single.

 

As you can see from the Miss Americana documentary she wrote me! with the precise intent to write the first single from the album...a generic self love song for everyone.

So it wasn't her label choice, i don't even think they have listened to all the album in a complete form when she produced and directed and launched the video.

You have to blame her and only her.

STF is probably gonna be in 1989 TV, same with IDWLF on Rep TV. Crazier has a slight chance, and I kind of wish she releases another droplets of rerecordings once she announces the international dates
