FLO def has x10 more potential especially since it’s the first all black GG who has seen this amount of success since the 90s. And it helps that the lead singer looks like Normani so that familiarity is there for the US audience. Agreed on all fronts. Especially Normani.
zeta Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 Okay, I think the comparisons are fair. Cardboard Box and Fly Girl, which are FLO's biggest hits (for now) have choruses that are reminiscent of Little Mix because, oh surprise, those were written by people who worked a lot with Little Mix. FLO lean more into R&B and it's 3 black girls, so their audiences are very different though. Eventually they'll find their own sound.
zeta Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 What I wish for them is that they do more interviews and stuff like that, we know so little about them. Almost no one knows how they were formed, why they are called FLO or their different personalities.
Hooligan Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 The video propels the song into another stratosphere for me. The chorus, pre-chorus, the melody, the progression of the beat, Jorja body-ing the start of her verse and her runs, Missy’s RAP! 100%. And I have to say they all killed this but Renee, wow. She was a moment for me.
kandicha Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 This is such a nice pleasant bop. Hope it smashes!
Tcharm Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 this is such a BOP. Missy really delivered. Hope this is THE breakthrough song for them

Almost no one knows how they were formed, why they are called FLO or their different personalities. They've discussed these topics in passing a few times but I agree that I would love to see them in more interviews. They did well on their first sit-down interview: Spoiler They usually give an abridged version of how they came together, but they once gave the long version. Stella and Renee went to a performing arts secondary school together and also ended up at the same college. They knew of each other, but they weren't friends because they were in different grades. Stella is a year older. When they auditioned for their manager, he formed multiple groups and was trying out different combinations. Renee was put into one group, and Stella and Jorja were put into a group together with two other girls. Jorja and Stella realized their music tastes didn't match those of the other two, and since Jorja and Renee were already following each other on social media, they suggested to their manager to try the three of them out as a group and the rest is history. We probably won't hear that version again for PR/marketing purposes. They usually go with the shorter version that Stella and Renee were school friends, later became friends with Jorja via social media, and wanted to form a girl group together. Their name: They once mentioned they got it after a cat called "Flo" and joked about it being their placeholder name until they could find a better one. In the end, they kept FLO and capitalized the letters as they couldn't decide on anything better and grew to like it. Hope this helps!
SimpleKindofLife Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Why does N***ani keep getting brought up as if she’s released an album, FLO already has basically the same amount of songs out as her I can totally hear the Little Mix/Mis-teeq comparisons though but I would love for FLO to perform better than them overall in the states the charts NEED them tbh

One that doesn’t remind you of another artist is what they trying to say which is not a lie. FLOP Stans are super defensive rn for whatever reason they have 5 songs so obviously they don’t have their own sound yet, their inspirations are basically their sound they haven’t made it their own yet

Chiidish Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Good song, wish Missy’s verse didn’t start like that but it pulled through for me
Doogle Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 She’s smashing Flo WILL make it and will happen. This is exactly what they should be releasing and at the right time. Agree we need to learn more about them tho

honeymoonavenue Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 idc what anyone says the song is good and is a good lead for their album. the song did 500k streams in its first 23 hours which is so big for flo since most of there music has been debuting with just a little bit over 100k.

black swan Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 this is so good!!! I really hope it can be a breakout hit for them
Cotton Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 First entry on Spotify UK ever! Would’ve been top 50 without Jimin and Lana Del Rey. This is huge!
