Oh this is a major bop :WAP: such a nice throwback vibe. Missy's verse could have been better but still cute and I loved the use of her sample in the song. I hope Tik Tok gets a hold of this and turns it into a hit because these ladies deserve it

should be a cute lil UK single for them. I don't see them blowing up in the US though. they'll be like a R&B version of Little Mix with occasional top 20 hits in America

Disagree wholeheartedly. Little mix was giving pure pop at a time when pop was declining. Love their music down but their sound was not standing out so they just got lost in the noise, especially when there was another girl band was on the scene and had much bigger success in the US. There is a void to fill for GG and flo is brilliantly( so far) trying to fill that gap.

Yes LM sound never fit US. FLO def has x10 more potential especially since it’s the first all black GG who has seen this amount of success since the 90s. And it helps that the lead singer looks like Normani so that familiarity is there for the US audience.

There is something very teeny bopper about their Melodies that I think is preventing them from reaching a wider audience outside of black Stan twitter. Like it’s very cheetah girls and it needs to be more mature Rnb sound like Destiny’s Child or Xscape for them to crossover.

I agree with everything except this normani look alike “lead” narrative you are trying to push. Love mani down but these girls are actually releasing music, interacting with fans and has a good label backing…

Reading skills are essential. I said “looks” never said all of that extra mess at the end.

Checked this out because of Missy and it slaps. Have been wanting a new girl group and they kind of remind me of Mis-Teeq.

I read, understood and replied accordingly. Why was normani mentioned in the first place? :lakitu:

You clearly didn’t because looks have nothing to do with what you said regarding Mani “but these girls are actually releasing music, interacting with fans and has a good label backing…” you just wanted to throw a little dig in there for Mani but you love her right?

The topic at hand: Can FLO break the US?

My answer: Yes, they’re all black GG and one of the members looking like Normani, an already known US artist, helps to solidify their US “look” and brand to familiar audiences.

are you the parking meter lady why are you questioning me?

Y’all asking if they’ll be more well known than #that #girl #group… FLO has a sold out US tour set to begin with no album out and the other girls had to cancel their tour. The answer is obvious.

I don’t see how LM is even comparable to FLO. FLO have garnered organic support from the US (and multiple celebrities) so early into their careers already without having even set foot there.

First of all they’re all gorgeous, and they’re a black rnb pop group killing it with very polished records and with exceptional talent! Like others have said there’s been a long time void since the last successful group with this set up..literally all the way to Destiny’s Child. I see BIG things for them.

Exactly. They’re so Little Mix coded, which is also why they never crossed over fully to the US. Their choruses have too much teeny bopper to it on most of the songs they pushed in the US. Their album cuts are a little more mature, but nobody in the US was hearing those clearly.

FLO would have to make it more cool and smooth like TLC or more mature R&B like Destiny’s Child, SWV, Xscape. The other option is to go more sex appeal + choreo with big pop/crossover choruses like Pussycat Dolls and Danity Kane but FLO is def not anywhere near that aesthetic/sound.

ALL OF THIS! Now you’re making me questioning if they’ll just be a SIDE B type act for the US like LM was. Very well known and respected by the industry and peers alike but never fully exploiting like 5H did, who weren’t as respected.

I think FLO could crossover but they need to do it before the trends shift against early 00s and 90s completely. I def see the tides are changing and people want to channel more mid 00s and late 00s aesthetics again.

FLO is mainly early 00s, sometimes 90s or mid 00s aesthetically (for example the Lose My Breathe homage in Fly Girls). If this song crosses over, it would be Missy’s biggest hit in a while so that would be impressive from FLO so early on.

Y’all clearly have not listened to these girls if you think their sound is “little mix” coded. Their sound couldn’t be more further apart. Immature is a prime example of a very mature sounding R&B song, same for losing you. Just say these girls are not for you and go. Their commercial appeal in terms of their sound is much bigger than little mix’s

And your argument is flawed cuz normani herself is still trying to break into the US market. Again her name being mentioned here makes zero sense

ok I brought up Little Mix and literally never said they were anything alike. I said they would be an R&B version of them (big in the UK and occasional US crossovers)

IDK something about this song just didn't come together like the rest for me. I still play Feature Me and Immature daily, so I'll just keep doing that and hope for the best :lakitu:

How is she trying to break the market when she already has more top 10 entries than her own group?? Like you don’t randomly debut at top 15 even with a Cardi feature if you’re not mainstream already. Heck you couldn’t get a Cardi feature if you’re not mainstream already or on the bridge of being “mainstream”.

Let’s hope if they perform live it won’t be the dry messy fail of their Cardboard Box at Kimmel

they looked like 3 separate The Voice contestants and gave nothing but an unsatisfying vocal coordination

they need to work on that cause their voices are pretty

What we’re not gonna do is speak ill of Little Mix, especially when they’ve been VERY vocally supportive of FLO and have championed them for a while now.

Little Mix and FLO exist in different lanes and there’s no need to compare
