This is incredibly flat  The chorus builds to nothing and not even in a functional Dark Horse way. Drops are dated but they could have just had it build to a climatic repeat of the chorus with extra instrumentation and percussion.

Not a bad song per se, but definitely a wasted potential to hit harder. They went the safe way with the chill trap beat in the verses when it could be an all-high banger. Maybe they have a plan with sped up versions and remixes but for now a cute song.

 

Oh and the "ride it, ride it" are dreadful.

One thing I just noticed that's always a pet peeve of mine: the rap verse has no lyrical connection to the rest of the song. Obv this track is not about the songwriting, but it feels like Nicki pulled a random verse she had sitting on her hard drive and emailed it to Kim's team.
