Muriel Bowser is a right-wing, broken-windows policing-style Democrat like Biden. The DC Council overwhelmingly overrode her veto. It only goes to Congress to review because DC is not a state, which now discredits Biden's alleged support for DC statehood.
SoJro101 Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 @Communion I'm a DC resident, born and raised. She said she supports 95% of the legislation. Most of these issues aren't black and white and unfortunately national politics naturally becomes a factor because we don't have statehood. Over-sensationalizing and politicizing the issue is equally as harmful and that's essentially what's happening here. The bulk of the legislation should be able to get passed. We all know Biden and Bowser want statehood, but you've got Republicans who are using parts of the bill the stick it to Democrats nationally. Just offering some context.
