Ok thats also a way of saying nothing I guess.

I love how Swifties and OBHs alike would argue that Aretha is a nobody compared to Britney Spears or Rihanna based on the logic displayed in this thread. If u want to ask who sold more, than go ahead: I'd agree the answer is clearly Taylor (tho adding DC to Beys stats would make this certainly more interesting)

If you ask whos "bigger", then the answer is clearly Beyonce. And this will probably never change cause Taylor just doesnt have anything extraordinary. Mediocre at best. Literally serving "gowns, beautiful gowns".

And Beyoncé has mediocre numbers to be considered the "biggest" between the two as well.

Even if you add DC, Taylor is still very much ahead 17 years in, you need to take into account the fact that Taylor past albums are still selling a lot each year.

That was referring to what Badgabriel wrote. Again, if you want to go by numbers, sure, Taylor sells more. Does it make her bigger? No.

Just like Britney or Rihanna aren't bigger than Aretha Franklin, Taylor is not bigger than Beyonce.

Except that both Britney and Rihanna are bigger than Aretha to GP, just like Taylor is bigger to GP than Beyonce is :rip:

Congrats to you and your fellow ATRLers in your small bubble where the highest selling digital artist of all time is smaller name than Aretha.

Thankfully the real world that some of us ATRLers still live in couldn't be more different than the website where most users still believe relics of past are still relevant to the GP in the year of 2023 somehow.

Beyoncé’s feels a lot bigger and more iconic. Taylor has sales, but outside of that, she’s not too culturally relevant.

Stats are somehow “less important” and yet again when an artist gets success with their material, it is discussed, analyzed, bragged about on here as an indicator of said artist being big and relevant ( which is true ).

So, Taylor Swift, which doesn’t take anything away from Beyonce though.

She most definitely isn't and you know it :rip:

Put them both on the same red carpet are the same time. Taylor would probably go in like to take pics of her much like everybody else.

She might be selling some more, but she's definitely not in the same league of stardom and veneration.

U mean the real world where Ms Aretha Franklin is considered one of if not THE best voice of all time? The real world which she pioneered due to her immense success as a black woman in a white-focussed industry? The real world in which people like Mariah, Whitney, Celine and all the other greats who came after her bowed down to her? Ok.

It must pain to know Taylor will NEVER reach that level

Now is it really? :ahh:

I love Beyonce more than…It’s like, normal for everyone to love Beyoncé, but I love her more than that amount, like more than the normal amount.

I try really hard not to let it get creepy. I just really like, channel it into a joyous admiration and appreciation.

Y'all idolize taylor swift. Beyoncé is who taylor swift idolizes. End of discussion.

That's compeletely unrelated. Taylor likes and respects a lot of people, that doesn't make them bigger than her.

Subjective rupaul’s drag race receipts instead of objective data… :gaycat7:

How is a list of references subjective? Do you mean to imply you read them differently, or that because they are opinions of subjects that they do not matter? What is sales but a collection of subjective actions compiled together to form one objective truth: that x sold y amount?

People often say impact/notoriety/fame/stature/reputation/respect cannot be quantified but the truth is, it can, we just don't have a group of people diligently doing the work to record and track such things. If we didn't have Billboard, if we didn't have Spotify numbers, if we didn't have the RIAA, how would you go about saying how popular or not an artist was? To outright deny the existence of and use of "impact" or other such things is therefore selective and subjective in itself.

But alright, from now on I guess I'll try to keep an itemized list of all references to Beyoncé as a representation of excellence and as first-of-her-class. I surely won't catch them all as I'd have to consume all media, but it'll be a start...

Hollywood's elites which makes less 1% of the population =/= GP

But if you are talking about any random street, it wouldn't be any different

Better than Madonna's as well. Are you implying that she is a bigger name than Madonna too?

The logic laid out in this thread would suggest Flo Rida is bigger than Aretha Franklin, having sold more than her.

When u reach the levels of Aretha and Madonna, its pretty much impossible to say whos bigger. I'd confidently say they are equals tho and Madonna herself, trust and believe, would feel flattered by that

Yeah Taylor is bigger than any girl out right now commercially. BUT Taylor has never been THAT girl. That's Beyoncé and always has been. Beyoncé never needed those stats because her talent alone more than compensates. Don't get me wrong Beyoncé’s overall stats absolutely hold their own too.

All swifties care about is stats. The answer is Beyoncé

The Hive trying to push the narrative of GP support and stats being unrelated to each other is crazy

btadzp49fdea.gif

Taylor's stats are massive because GP supports her like no other in the first place. You only use your feelings as some type of proof for GP support is not out of reason

Be honest, 70% of that support comes from her devoted fans and the other 30 % from the GP..i think you know that very well! don’t act like if her success is mainly due to the GP support which is false. That being said, numbers are still numbers…
