No rom-com ever should be having the budget of a blockbuster. I’m surprised they even considered it in the first place but it’s Netflix so…

Lol.

No Netflix Romcom should have a budget of more than 10M. Just sayin.

Ridiculous budget so good that they shut it down. Get smaller stars or those willing to take a pay cut.

I'd rather have actors (and crew, but lets be realistic) getting paid more than any studio keeping that money, though.

Netflix is going to learn that talent only likes their deep pockets. This shift will be interesting to watch.

Awh. I love Nancy Meyers movies but I can see why they shut this one down with that budget.

looked up expensive romcoms.

2010's How Do You Know cost $120 mil and made...$49 mil.

Reese Witherspoon $15 mil

Owen Wilson $10 mil

Paul Rudd $3 mil

Jack Nicholson $12 mil

director James L Brooks $10 mil

So the salaries alone cost more than the global box office. Embarrassing.

Maybe a diff studio picks it up and gets a theatrical release?

streaming companies are the only ones who can not be totally insane in doing a romcom that sails past $100 mil budget.

i mean, even the hyped hit with george & julia cost $60 mil.

NOT $150M... It's a ******* romcom, not a Star Wars movie :deadbanana2:

Set It Up is a decent/good Netflix romcom. The movie cost $10M to make.

Hulu's Palm Springs cost $5M to make. The movie was great AND critically acclaimed.

They should hire the leads of those movies: Zoey Deutch (Scarlett), Cristin Milioti (Penélope), Andy Samberg (Owen) and Glen Powell (the woman-beater aka Fassbender).

The same studio that is shelving and throwing away projects to save money is going to buy an overpriced as hell rom-com?

I mean the budget will likely be smaller now as its unknown if the cast will stay the same (but prob still expensive judging by her other romcoms )

Well, they definitely didn't pay $100M I'm sure, that's probably just how much they were negotiating with Netflix.
