I know he’ll have great longevity but isn’t this kind of disappointing?

Barely even outdid Folklore with 20 more tracks, a mess.

his album from 2021 (30 tracks) debuted with 19.2M on US Spotify.
isn't he bigger on Apple Music than on Spotify?

And that album has been Top 10 for 2 years now and sold like 7M

So you would think he would be able to shatter Spotify records in the U.S from all the hype

At this point this is terrorism. Enough.

I refuse to believe the claim that he's so big because he's uniquely "a young voice in country".

There's tons of millennial voices in country music like Kacey Musgraves. The difference between many millennial voices in the genre and Morgan is that many of them are decidedly progressive in comparison.

It should have been Chris Stapleton :jonny:

Maybe people are looking for a male voice rather? Especially the straight audience. I guess Morgan's lyrics about drinking beer and reading the bible really resonate with them, lol. Either way, like the poster above said, it should have been Chris Stapleton. Now that the new season of American Idol started, I noticed there's quite a lot of country singers trying it. Maybe more than before. Perhaps it's Morgan's influence somewhat.

And there could be just plain old bandwagoning happening. And people listening to him to hear what the fuzz is all about. Plus releasing tons of music at once seems to be a really good strategy in the streaming age.

Well “sis”: 1.) he apologized. ATRL doesn’t=real life 2.) nobody outside of ATRL cares anymore. He’s as mainstream as it can get, he has more fans than “the hard right”. I would know, I have plenty of friends that enjoy his music that are not, and not even close to “the far right”. 3.) I don’t live online :heart2:

Red has strong pop influences and a few songs that are just plain pop, but I'd say its dominant sound is country. Billboard, for example, classifies it as a country album and both it and most of its tracks chart on their country genre charts. Even songs that blur the line, like All Too Well which essentially has a country version and a pop version (the ten minute one), charted on the country charts.

Since when is it not? :toofunny3:

Anyway, I definitely expected more from his Spotify numbers. Not gonna lie.

You going to bat for this man - and, more importantly, the way he symbolizes to many the right to use racial slurs, is so reactionary. :deadbanana4:

Sis, you just wrote some completely reactionary conspiracy theory about Lana Del Rey for commenting “❤️“…..yesterday. Save it

I think it now makes sense why you feel the need to belittle people who are uncomfortable with his slur usage as POC, especially if your first reaction is to call someone a "conspiracy theorist" for not liking Lana Del rRey because they're a survivor of domestic violence and don't like her glorification of it. :deadbanana4:

He issued 4 public apologies and donated $500,000 to black music charities.

Sorry we don’t live on Twitter or ATRL and feel the need to constantly be outraged sis

This. I’m an alcoholic and drug addict and his music helped me when I was going through a break up a few years ago.

His "apology" was a basic PR template.  What shows his true colors is the fact that he was invited by NAACP members to have a discussion with them, which he accepted, but then he ghosted them.  He really didn't care.
