The demo sounds really rough but I can still bop to it I remember when we had to fight with Rihanna fans because we told them Taylor was the one singing the low ooh ooh but they didn't believe us. Seems like she's the one singing the hook all this time.

Not surprised that Rih literally just replaced Taylor's voice without changing a single comma. What I'm surprised is that they've actually kept Taylor's "ooh"s in the final version and everyone who's acquainted enough with their voices could immediately spot that even at the time. Really a weird decision on Calvin/Rihanna's part.

 

I wish Taylor put out a From The Vault version of it, but it'd most likely need for Calvin to be involved so I guess this is as good as it gets.

Label puppet but she releases her music, including that song, through her own label and has ownership of her masters. 

 

We all knew the demo would sound the same in terms of lyrics and composition considering Rihanna doesn’t have a writing credit on it. That’s literally the only song Rihanna hasn’t co-written in her catalog in the past 8 years (including all features), she probably just never cared much about it.
