Taylor Swift - "This Is What You Came For"

I prefer Version 1. The piano-based instrumental is prettier and her vocals sound more emotive and better raw…

It's clearly unfinished but it's still nice to finally hear this after all these years. Why do people think this would fit on reputation TV though? It was released 2 months after New Romantics vs 1 year and 4 months before Look What You Made Me Do and was written before the events that inspired said album. If anything, this could be a nice addition to 1989 TV.

Not this finally leaking in full :jonny: You can tell it's an unfinished demo but it still has a lot of potential and Taylor sounds good on it for the most part. I really wouldn’t mind this being on 1989 Taylor's Version.

she sounds nice but i prefer rih’s version

the rih stans coming in here to act unbothered only to meltdown when they get clocked :bibliahh:

It always sounded like Taylor's vocal track was left on the final version in the chorus

this is what I was thinking too

she even uses the same vocal styling/technique as she did throughout 1989

Not the entire song already being done before Rihanna came into the picture. :bibliahh:

Rihanna doesn't even have a writing credit, so why is this surprising?

do y'all think calvin would agree to re-record the song with her? is she able to re-record this song if someone besides calvin is in charge of the production?

she was able to re-record babe, so would this be the same case?

Isn’t it legal to make a “cover”? Technically that’s what she’s doing with all of the re-recordings with the original and new producers.

wish she released this instead of that talentless fraud :katie:

She can re-record it with a new producer as with all her previous material. She wrote the song.

TIWYCF Max Martin's version :jonny5:

The Taylor/Rihanna vocal battle in this thread is so funny, truly the definition of a mid-off :rip:

I don't see a world where he tries to "block" her from re-recording given (1) it's basically free money in songwriting royalties for him for absolutley no work, and (2) the Swifties would literally harass him and he seems a bit to laid back to want that **** in his life.

he was really petty and greedy when he broke up with rita and he didn't let her promote/perform i will never let you down

He had sole writing, producing and mixing credits on Rita Ora's song. Plus we don't know what really happened between them.

He probably owns a majority share of the publishing rights on this song, but Taylor will have her own share of the publishing rights that could enable her to reproduce it without issues.

OT: Taylor's demo is decent. Her vocals were very obviously in various levels of the mix on Rihanna's version, so it's nice to hear those vocals in a main mix, even if it's an unfinished demo.

Rihanna's version >>>

Yeah this slays, RIhanna's is only preferred cause y'all are used to it :rip:

It’s not bad. Weirdly her voice does suit this sound, but in a more dreamy, airy way. I do still think Rih’s version is the superior one though. The vibe and sound just suit her better. You can definitely tell that they left some of Taylor’s vocals in the background and especially in the chorus (the lower pitched ooh’s were what made fans theorise that Taylor sang/wrote this song in the first place). Still, it’s a pretty good song overall and is a cute little detour for Taylor’s career for her to write a smash for an A-lister like Rihanna. She should write for others in the future because her talent for creating melodies is super underrated.

She's gonna slay this when it's produced properly for 1989 TV :WAP:

Is this made by this AI thing? She sound way too robotic to be a real demo.
