We knew Taylor wrote it, but the fact that she essentially recorded the entire song and Calvin slapped Rih’s vocals over her’s (and we can still hear Taylor’s vocals on parts) is just laaaazy. I mean, Rihanna probably recorded her vocals in one take in a WhatsApp voice message, so he had to make do with what he had

I’m BOPPING and this has been on repeat. Will add this on my reputation Spotify playlist. Both versions sound legit to me. The second one appeared 20 minutes later. This type of edit takes 3 minutes of filtering the acapella online and matching it to the instrumental on Audacity. The difference between the quality of the vocal and the filtering artifacts gives it away
FunCoric Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 This is so lifeless. rihanna's voice has much more charisma for a song like this
Blackout2006 Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 Demo ISSA bop! I still prefer Rihanna's tho obv

Imagine needing Taylor of all people to hit high notes for you Talentless I mean it’s clear that Calvin didn’t bother redoing the splicing he already did for Taylor on some parts, and Taylor would literally choke and ask for water trying to match Rihanna’s notes on Love on the Brain so let’s not.

It’s not lazy. It’s backing vocals. I swear people are hearing things that aren’t there. Yes, Taylor’s voice is used in places, but you can barely make it out and the fact that it took the actual Taylor version to leak to confirm Taylor was actually on the track more than we initially thought and wasn’t discoverable via filtering the vocals shows how buried she was in the mix. The thing about Rihanna, she has an ear for vocal delivery, and she often lays her vocals with similar takes as the demo. We saw Rih giving us Sia vocals on Diamonds, even down to the voice cracks. People to this day still post “Sia vocals” from Diamonds and it’s actually Rihanna as the accent gives it away It’s clear that Rih took her queue from Taylor’s vocals and tried to replicate the airy delivery which is where can start to also hear the resemblance to Taylor. The way people can’t tell the difference between Sia’s and Rihanna’s vocals on Diamonds.
byzantium Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 I really like both versions. I want to live in this world where both my favs excel with this song.
Sazare Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 Sounds even worse than the Rihanna version (which was always bad)
perfectillusion204 Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 After hearing the demo, the official version sounds more like an AI generated Rihanna lol. Like she tried to copy Taylor's vocals/delivery exactly

Everyone know Taylor's vocals were all over the "oohs" from the first week and Calvin confirmed it with tweets back in 2016. https://www.glamour.com/story/calvin-harris-twitter-rant-about-taylor-swift And those are clearly Sia's vocals at LEAST mixed in. She sings in cursive. It's not an accent. Edited March 4, 2023 by Walk_Away21
Saint James Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 why is she doing the bananies avocadies accent?

Losing my ground Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 (edited) I love Rihanna's contribution to this song but let's face it, anyone could have done this song and the demo proves it. Edited March 4, 2023 by Losing my ground
TaggedGalaxy Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 I hope someone does a mashup and makes it a duet
Johnny Jacobs Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 Sounds really good but Rih makes it sound more interesting with her tone
