The difference is Rosalia can do reggaeton but also explore and excel at other genres, Miss G cannot.

Karol on the other hand has classics like Provenza, Bichota and Tusa... which is way bigger and more remembered than Con Altura despite being released the same year, for example. Nothing from El Mal Querer stuck, her collabs with the biggest names of the industry were abysmal flops, she's basically what the system wants us to listen to, but we keep saying NO.

You’re right, which makes the comparisons to Rosalia even more ridiculous. To compare Rosalia and Karol is like expecting M.I.A. to do Rihanna numbers with the type of music she used to do. Or Juana Molina to Belinda lol I dont get it. Nobody compares Becky G, Tini to what Rosalia does either. These are bonafide latina pop-stars in the traditional sense. There are other latinas that I think occupy the lane alternative/mainstream that Rosalia does that would make way more sense as a comparison. Kali Uchis is a prime example (and I hope her album continue the latina success Karol is starting this week). Both Rosalia and Kali seem very interesting in genre experiments by mixing elements of traditional music, current western influences and more contemporary latin urban trends. Then we have the likes of Arca, Nathy Peluso, Isabella Lovestory, which are way more urbano indebted, but also experiment a lot at different levels. Honestly these are the people I’d hear echos of in Rosalia’s (present-day) music and this is why Motomami’s success is amazing, because these girls are not seeing the numbers that project and its tour brought in. 
 

I mean you can drag her as much as you can and bring Chicken Teryaky as a receipt, but you know Rosalia is not playing the same field as Karol. 
 

anyways i love this drum and bass remix of provenza by one of the best underground collectives in latin electronic, which proves that if one day Karol gets in her artistic bag she can SERVE. Rosalia is a niche boutique artist. The girls that get it, get it. Her music is actually unique and stands out. She doesn’t make music to appeal to basic GP taste that are satisfied with the same reggaeton beat over and over again. That’s what Karol G is for.
