Why did the US say yes to Karol G but not to Rosalía?

Karol G's new album is expected to debut in the Top 5 on Billboard with sales similar to artists like Dua Lipa and Lizzo and her tour make $72M just in the US. 

Despite Miss Rosalía collaborated with big international names like The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, Travis Scott, Bad Bunny and James Blake (+ cameos in videos of Cardi B & Harry Styles), she's still struggling to break into the US market and seems to be far from achieving Karol's success there. 
 
why?

Honestly how can people play both of these ladies’ projects and still think they are remotely comparable tells me everything i need to know about how surface level stan wars can be  It’s like when brazilians compare Anitta to Rosalia too. Are you even paying attention to the music atp? 

 

They occupy very different lanes musically. Both deserving of the success and I don’t see Rosalia overtaking Karol commercially in the US, although I also don’t see Karol achieving the industry prestige Rosa has conquered the last few years either. They focus on different audiences, even if Rosalia’s loosies are very mainstream indeed

Rosalia’a album was not that commercial, and even her sellout reggaeton bops had weird lyrics not everybody wants to sing or can relate to.

I like both, but musically in terms of creative projects I think Rosalia takes the crown.

 

Karol is turning into the female bad bunny, very play listy singles back to back although they are all BOPS.

 

Good for both though, both doing they thing.
