wastedpotential Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 Well it was shipped to stores in 2021 and shipped back in 2022, so they had to count all of those negative sales against the meagre streaming figures

Comparing a new artist people were just discovering to someone who's been established for over 16 years. At least she was number 1. Not everyone has that.

They spent a combined 22 weeks at #1 between July 2011 and June 2012 before they all fell off the face of the Earth. Adele, after 21, had another huge era with 25 in 2015/2016.
WEEKND Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 I used to drag but Easy On Me came on the other day and it slapped me in a whole new way. My wicked tongue shall never rise against her again.

I don’t understand how an album hitting #1 on the IFPI list could EVER be dragged, even if it didn’t do well the following year.

It only charted higher than Sour because of shipments. Edited February 24, 2023 by Axelios
Hot Volcano Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 (edited) #1 21 (2011) #1 21 (2012) #1 25 (2015) #2 25 (2016)* #1 30 (2021) Poor Adele indeed * less than 100k away from #1. Edited February 24, 2023 by Hot Volcano
Michael196 Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 not some trying to flip this into the same old obsessed swifties narrative the charts section is still intact and everything remained saved, do some of you want to get tagged for the manyyy posts where the only goal was to ignite **** just to cry about it later... and the hundreds of circle jerks about the "no one does like..." for an album that was doing a bit over a decade old re-recording which has stomped the former by now... you started when the whole date change thing happened to every RedTV's release week thread was infected by the same people and continued to make it worse later, now after the annihilation of an actual new album, you'll have to be continuously reminded of your clownery as a wise woman once sang... You play stupid games, you win stupid prizes

The only reason Gaga isn't considered local is because of her terrible numbers in the US OT: They shipped but it got shipped back

Tylerbv Posted February 25, 2023 Posted February 25, 2023 (edited) I’m sure she’s crying into her flock of Grammys as we speak Edited February 25, 2023 by Tylerbv
Rami Posted February 25, 2023 Posted February 25, 2023 30 was not streaming friendly and was not promoted properly, it still generated a quality lead with 10 weeks at #1 (no remixes, discounts needed - no shade here) it's her best effort but she didn't actually care about the album after its release, and the Vegas fiasco happened. Plus she already got the number 1 spot, even if the era wasn't as huge as the previous 2 it was still impressive for a "flop era" I really don't get the constant obsession with Adele. Legend did it 4 times too impressive

JC96 Posted February 25, 2023 Posted February 25, 2023 She can't have longevity anymore as her previous albums (21,25). That's why.

Do not come for Taylor's longevity, Adele could be doing cancelled Vegas shows and #1-OUT while Taylor remains in the Top 3 with Midnights and Speak Now TV this year.
