As an ATRL user called BLADE RUNNER, I think it's time for Ridley to retire. Enough is enough.

Oh this looks like the live action remake of Avatar the Last Airbender. Botched & the magic of the original completely gone :bibliahh:

I'll still be watching for Paul Mescal though

It's not just the music, I feel like something else feels... off. Like the trailer seems somewhat outdated in a bad way for how it's actually edited and it progresses. it lacks that sense of majesty and epicity the original had. If they cut it shorter and included less dialogue scenes probably it would've had another impact on me.

Really hope this doesn't reflect the quality of the film.

The CG has a bad physics. The velocities and trajectories feels wrong.

The fact that he had nerve to come after 2049 when it's better than any of his movies...

I was invited to a screening today. Here are my thoughts on the movie:

Spoiler

Great costume and set design as always. The acting is very good too, especially Denzel Washington's.

The writing, however, left a lot to be desired, and I think the movie would have worked better if it occurred at another period in Roman history instead of as a direct follow-up to the original film. The decision that annoys the most is them randomly retconning Lucius to be Maximus's son. :skull: Not only does it bring nothing to the plot, but it feels out-of-character for Maximus to cheat on his wife given how devoted he was to her.

Also, I was expecting Pedro Pascal to have a larger role in the film and was surprised that he got killed off halfway through the movie. He did great in all his scenes though.

I feel like I watched a 10 episode period drama in one sitting.

Not great. The writing is a bit melodramatic and too convenient at times. The acting is sub-par, including all the big/hypes names, Pedro Pascal, Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington.

On my way to see it

If I'm not mistaken, in one scene, Denzel's character told his subordinate to clean Paul's character by saying "Hose him down". Please tell me I'm wrong.

It's enjoyable but the plot is very thin. There's no character development at all

I wish they would have explored the bi/gay relationship more

I enjoyed it and it is good in parts, but I agree with the critics. The plot pales in comparison to the first film. Visually, this is stunning and put me right into Ancient Rome. Best part of the film is the actual visual beauty of the City and action. :jonny3:
but yeah as a movie, the characters are boring or overacting. Like the emperors were annoying, the main character was so bland. I was tempted to scroll on my phone during his parts 😭 Denzel hard carried all the acting in this movie. But that's expected from Denzel. I did like the spectacle of the fights, but a lot of them just didn't make sense and the political backstabbing wasn't executed well cuz it's expected. Also the ending was so abrupt and akward 🤣 like what?

overall it's like a 6/10. But for blockbuster action and visuals is great for a quick afternoon movie. Well not really quick, they could have trimmed like 20 minutes or just added another action sequence

I thought this was fun and interesting but ridiculous and jumping the shark at points,  with the screenplay being the weakest part of the movie :rip: Denzel was fun and camp and Paul Mescal and Pedro Pascal were both solid. The twin emperors were so unserious :ahh:

I see this maybe creeping into Best Picture,  Supporting Actor,  and technical nominations but only see Denzel having a real shot of winning anything this awards season.
