Sscorpionn Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Anyone that isn’t a delusional Monster would tell you it’s 21. Whitney’s bodyguard soundtrack is the only female album/era that rivals 21.
AMIT Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 The Fame Monster. 21 only has sales and that's where it ends for her.

TaylenaStan Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 (edited) It definitely depends on the demographic. If we were to go back to that era i'd say for younger ppl TFM definitely felt bigger but 21 had more reach with older audiences who also simply bought more music So imo for under 25 year olds = TFM over 25 year olds = 21 Edited February 3, 2023 by TaylenaStan

My grandma’s friend who was extremely old and blind knew of Lady Gaga. Gaga was frequently discussed by The Young Turks during her peak, and weighed in on political issues. Gaga spurred conversations in the art world and made people question what could be fashion. I don’t know where this revisionist history is coming from that only gays and teens listened to Gaga, pop music was popular with everyone back then.
brenda-walsh Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 21 sold like double the amount in pure sales while also holding 3 absolute smash hits and has more streams than the other album. its really no competition
GreatestLoveofAll Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 RITD and SLY are bigger than any single from the fame and SFTTR is on par with them easily plus 21 sold million. the comparison is cute, but no

Im not saying that no over 25 yo knew Lady Gaga thats obviously false. During her peak almost everyone knew her Im more speaking about music, everyones grandma has 21 on their shelf, while yea some older ppl definitely bought that Lady Gaga record too but definitely way less atleast thats how it feels Edited February 3, 2023 by TaylenaStan

But outside of those, 21 did nothing for music or pop culture. It was just a big era with nothing else to show for itself, that's why I voted for TFM. Edited February 3, 2023 by AMIT

I'd argue it's bigger than The Body Guard soundtrack, which has several albums from the 90s that came relatively close to its sales. 21 however, no one- be it a solo act or a group- was selling anywhere close to her the decade it was released (2010s). When the best-selling albums of that decade range from 10, 12, 13 million pure copies, Adele would go on to sell 35 million pure copies (maybe even higher now). 21 was a literal anomaly in every sense of the word. unclefloprry Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 TFM feels bigger as an era because Gaga was everywhere, on TV, radio and social media. Her very presence on the shows was highly anticipated just for knowing what outfit she would wear, lmao. Everyone was talking about her looks, her shows, her music...her. In music? 21 but TF+M isn't that far.

Oops was the sophomore to the smash debut album in the era where everyone and their grandmas were getting Diamond albums, so I wouldn't even put it in the top 5 biggest female eras of the century.
chaklux Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 I love Gaga but You really have to be delusional and live in atrl bubble if you think TF and TFM is on the level of 21. 21 is the best selling album this century and one of the most successful albums of all time. Over 30 million in pure sales with 2 gigantic hit. Rolling in the deep and someone like you were super big hits in several countries. Not just US and UK. TF and TFM monster were big success too but 21 was a phenomenon.

Please Britney literally was the first artist ever to start w/ 1M sells first week how is it ''everyone was getting diamond albums''? What a stupid excuse... But Gaga stans have to come up with something. Britney is literally the best selling teenager of all time wait but everyone was getting diamond albums

Everyone is mainly the gays really and pop culture forums, that's why it feels like a bigger era to you but Adele had the whole world on a chokehold without even trying(straight and gays inclusive).
