rl231 Posted February 11, 2023 Author Posted February 11, 2023 Delirious Marina - Teen Idle brycehooha Little Mix - Little Me Kylie Verzosa Sasha Alex Sloan - Older Allday Demi Lovato - Warrior Aurora Jax - Victoria's Secret Fifteen Christina Aguilera - The Voice Within wish Corinne Bailey Rae - Put Your Records On Starchild Nina Nesbitt - Two Worlds Away kittenish Harry Styles - Matilda Luckitty Kesha - Rainbow Marina - Teen Idle boys - 8 - She definitely had lots of regrets about being a ***** etc. The only part I wasn’t sure of was the confidence of where she is now which I’m guessing is the “I’ve come alive” portion of the song also the loving you for who you were back then part. Clue - 7.5 - Whew, she is one of the weakest songwriters of all time. The regret is there, but there’s barely any love for her past self. Movies - 8 - An adequate enough entry for the theme. Staryu - 8.5 - She is reflecting on her past sins and wanting to move on, it works. Little Mix - Little Me boys - 10 - Not much to critique the song on in terms of its lyrics tbh you hit all the marks for what was asked. Would I play it again? No Clue - 10 - Yes! *Ebony Jenkins voice* Movies - 10 - Lyrically perfect. Staryu - 10 - Perfectly on theme, the lyrics are exactly what the judges should be looking for. Sasha Alex Sloan - Older boys - 5.5 - I just felt this was missing a lot of the details that other songs had gave so it’s a chop for me. Clue - 3 - At its core, this song is about hindsight being 20/20. So nah. Movies - 4 - This is lacking a lot what they prompt asked for. Staryu - 6 - I’m not getting self love so much as them looking back and realizing their parents are similar to herself, idk, but it isn’t working for me. Demi Lovato - Warrior boys - 8.5 - Missing the point of loving who you were back then but overall a good choice I’d say. Clue - 10 - Perfect. Movies - 8 - This is a fair attempt at the theme for me, the lyrics are mostly generalized, I would have preferred some more specificity. Staryu - 8.5 - This has the trauma and healing/moving forward, the self love doesn’t come through as much as in other songs but it works enough. Jax - Victoria's Secret boys - 3.5 - Struggling with body issues is traumatic but this song just felt like a miss for the theme. I don’t see much referencing self love or how she’s loving herself and doing anything about it in the present. Clue - 1 - Not at all. Movies - 5 - This is like half on theme because yes it talks about a traumatic topic but overall it lacks the other half of what the prompt suggested. Staryu - 2 - This song isn’t really on theme, it’s about body issues, the only part that works for me is where she says the part about being younger. Christina Aguilera - The Voice Within boys - 9 - Solid choice for this round. Clue - 10 - Perfect. Movies - 9 - Very good thematically. Staryu - 9.5 - It checks all the boxes of the theme for me, good choice. Corinne Bailey Rae - Put Your Records On boys - 6.5 - The song is missing the real trauma for me but it does have lots of self care and talk of how to move on but the one line about boys and loving that afro hairdo is not enough to go see the therapist. Clue - 6.5 - No trauma. Movies - 6.5 - Almost, not quite there yet. There needed to be more evidence of traumatic experiences to be a more solid entry for me. Staryu - 7 - It’s missing the trauma part of the theme but it has the looking back/child self, love and acceptance parts down, so 7 seems fair. Nina Nesbitt - Two Worlds Away boys - 6 - The song gave me a headache lyrically so I just gave you this so I could move on. Clue - 8 - It works. Movies - 5 - This is weak to me. Staryu - 7 - The last verse or whatever really feels on theme to me but the rest of the song a mess, I feel like a lot of what she said was nonsense. Harry Styles - Matilda boys - 6 - So this one was a little confusing because my understanding of the challenge was this had to be about your inner child not someone else? If I overlook that the song overall for me was okay. Clue - 6.5 - The POV is skewed, but I guess I see why you chose it. Movies - 4 - No sweetie. Absolutely wrong narrative perspective. This is not what the theme asked for. Staryu - 5 - I feel like the fact that Harry is singing to Matilda instead of reflecting on himself just doesn’t work for the theme for me. Kesha - Rainbow boys - 9 - I think this a cute selection for the round, good job. Clue - 10 - Perfect choice. Movies - 10 - Excellent. Staryu - 9.5 - It hits the marks for me, singing to her inner child/past self, healing, etc. Cute song and good choice. Favorites tribe up next!!

rl231 Posted February 11, 2023 Author Posted February 11, 2023 Speezy G-Dragon - 소년이여 (A Boy) (lyrics) TruGemini Kesha - Father Daughter Dance selena_lavigne Avril Lavigne - It Was In Me Guero Quinn XCII & Logic - A Letter To My Younger Self fais_2311 Sia - Alive Auburn Janet Jackson - God's Stepchild Mariah4life Mariah Carey - Looking In Stevie P!nk - Conversations With My 13 Year Old Self touya kinomoto BTS - Inner Child (lyrics) bowdown MercyMe - Dear Younger Me Taeyeon Charlotte Adigéry, Bolis Pupul - Reappropriate G-Dragon - 소년이여 (A Boy) boys - 8 - Lyrically yes it was sprinkled throughout the song and you hit the marks that needed to be hit. Clue - 8 - She’s pretty good. Movies - 8.5 - This is quite adequate thematically. Staryu - 8.5 - It mostly works for me, singing to his young self, lyrics invoke love and acceptance. The song itself wasn’t for me. Kesha - Father Daughter Dance boys - 5.5 - If this was all about trauma you would have aced it but to me it's missing the professing love and care for who they were at that time and it’s not showing that they’ve moved on confidently just kind of accepted it. Clue - 6 - Like they said, it’s really about the childhood issues and not moving on or anything. Movies - 5 - This only focuses on half of the theme. Staryu - 6 - There’s lots of childhood trauma here but little moving on/confidence, she just says all this trauma made her who she is, so it’s not really hitting the mark fully for me. Avril Lavigne - It Was In Me boys - 3 - Panning this immediately because I don’t get any feeling that this is referencing their inner child. Clue - 1.5 - Pretty much not at all. Movies - 2.5 - This is about self reflection as an adult. The brief specifically stated childhood references. Staryu - 3.5 - The song isn’t giving child/teen years, she could be talking about any point of her life, it has a little self-reflection and acceptance but that’s it for me. Quinn XCII & Logic - A Letter To My Younger Self boys - 8.5 - I was expecting this to flop but it does fit the theme even though I don’t necessarily like it that much. Clue - 10 - Great. Movies - 8.5 - Yeah it fits. There are strong entries submitted but this is good lyrically for the theme. Staryu - 9 - It fits the theme. Sia - Alive boys - 7 - Ok. Clue - 8 - It’s almost there. I feel like the moving on and describing that is missing. Movies - 7 - This is average, it lacks some factors lyrically some of the other entries are strong in. Staryu - 7.5 - It has the healing and moving forward, she’s alive yes. There’s trauma mentioned and brief mention of her childhood, it kinda works, kinda doesn’t for me, but it’s fine. Janet Jackson - God's Stepchild boys - 7.5 - Confused me a little on who the hell she was talking to at some points but there was enough to show she was referencing herself when she was a child. She talked about how she needed to love herself and not feel ashamed, which is the theme. Clue - 7 - This felt too abstract for a game like this. Like I think it’s on point… but my head hurts. Movies - 7 - Average. I get the vision. Staryu - 8 - I guess she’s singing about her own childhood but the part about talking to dogs confused me and idk what she means by god’s stepchild but she has acceptance/healing in some of the lyrics, so it’s cute I guess. Mariah Carey - Looking In boys - 4 - This was a mess for me. Clue - 2 - This song, at its core, is about her telling us that her life isn’t all glamour and that she’s been through ****. Kinda like Brandy’s “Top of the World”. Doesn’t fit. Movies - 5 - I know the story behind this song therefore, I understand the direction you were going for slightly however, specifically from a thematic concern, there was some lyrical content lacking. Staryu - 4 - There’s not much here to work with, some trauma and not much else on theme. P!nk - Conversations With My 13 Year Old Self boys - 10 - Checks all the boxes. Clue - 10 - It has it all. Movies - 10 - You nailed it. Staryu - 10 - Perfect choice for this theme. BTS - Inner Child boys - 6 - It’s okay not really going into the details enough for me about the trauma, self love etc. Clue - 5.5 - It didn’t feel like it was a song about what “Hold the Girl” is about. It’s just reflection. Movies - 6 - Not bad, I find it’s way too vague lyrically. Needed more depth. Staryu - 7 - It’s got the self reflecting inner child thing going for it but it could use more. MercyMe - Dear Younger Me boys - 8 - I don’t mess with the jesus stuff but this works. Clue - 8 - Praise Him. Movies - 7.5 - Yes this is good enough lyrically. Staryu - 8 - It mostly works, the talking to the younger self songs seem to mostly be on theme to me and this is no exception. Charlotte Adigéry, Bolis Pupul - Reappropriate boys - 8 - I was ready to pan this at first glance because of how short it was but this actually was one of the more controversial choices that were submitted in my opinion. Clue - 7 - We have a literature and a linguistics major in this batch :clap3:. You FLOPPED. Movies - 6.5 - The message isn’t quite clear here. I am a literature major so I love a connotative meaning but this to me is unclear. Staryu - 7 - I can’t tell who she is talking to in this song, is it herself or a group of abuse survivors, idk. It hits other points of the theme though. Final results up next!!
