Remember when being signed to an established artist's label would guarantee you at least a hit from your debut because the artist would assist them with their sound and singles? They would even help write and produce on the album, and guide them?

Examples such as:

Toni Braxton - Another Sad Love Song, Breathe Again, You Mean the World To Me (Babyface)}

Usher - You Make Me Wanna, Slow Dance, My Way (Babyface)

Pink - Most Girls, There You Go (Babyface)

Tatyana Ali - Daydreamin (Will Smith)

Brownstone - If You Love Me (Michael Jackson)

Allure - All Cried Out (Mariah Carey)

TLC - Aint 2 Proud 2 Beg, Baby-Baby-Baby, What About Your Friends (Babyface)

50 Cent - In Da Club (Eminem)

Nicki Minaj - Superbass and Moment 4 Life (Lil Wayne)

Drake - Find Your Love (Lil Wayne)

Ciara - All of her singles from her debut (Babyface)

I honestly believe Beyonce had zero input in this album. Of course, that is my speculation but hearing the music, that's sort of obvious.

Baby face is such a legend and has a good eye for talent:clap3:. I wish my fav would work with him!

Beyonce is like me at work. I can make good work products for myself but for me to help someone else or give them the secret stuff that takes it over the top, is difficult. The brain just doesn’t work the same when it’s not just for yourself. Probably lower motivation.

I can’t see Beyonce listening to this album and being like “YES you ate that Chloe” as her true opinion. She would have listened and agreed that there’s not many hits on this album. One thing Beyonce always does, whether it’s a re-release or album soundtrack for a movie, is include 1 OBVIOUS hit/lead single type material.

She’s from the old days of music where albums would always get at least one clear single.

It’s so crazy how elevated this would have been with all the singles that she scrapped. What a poor choice. :rip:

This is quite sad honestly. The album overall is pretty mid outside of Looze U and Make It Look Easy, and I've been riding with her for awhile but with it's release I'm definitely seeing the lack of identity and proper branding in her music.

It's kinda sad how she was bullied out the pop route with Have Mercy and Treat Me bc it's honestly where she shines the most. Had Body Do been released as the first single with a fire video I 100% know that it would've been the best performing single she's had for awhile.

I guess an increase is an increase. :noparty:

While I don’t love the album, I was rooting hard for her at one point. Hoping she can turn this around.

She's been catching heat on Twitter & TikTok for over a year now, at the time people dragged her of being too overtly sexual in a way that didn't seem authentic (both musically and visually)

I can agree with them to an extent, but after this album I'm realizing that the messy *****-popping bops were actually her best. Have Mercy/Treat Me/Body Do is probably her trinity, followed by For The Night. This new subdued R&B sound is not giving

It's been said to death already but having her previous singles on the album would've elevated the project a bit. Now that I've heard the whole album, it seems silly for her to have left them out.

I also think she excels most when she focuses on the Pop leaning records. There's an avenue there for her to move forward with and experiment further if she really wants to.

She's incredibly talented. I think she just needs more... direction and cohesion. I also think some of the critic/fan responses got to her and made her switch up some of her original plans. She's young, and this is her first solo record. She'll get there.

This is how I feel. I know she wanted to make a concept album but for her debut she should’ve just gave Popstar and released an album with non-descript bops. A more “personal” project like In Pieces could’ve came later.
