I’m on the left as you can probably tell. Although I wanted a gorgeous wine-red shirt which was more fitting for the purple jacket but that one was not available sadly. Other than that I’m really happy with the look tho, it’s cute and not boring and even kinda matched with my boyfriend. (On the right)

what's with the people wearing trainers, the green puffy coat with the red plaid scarf, and the saggy wrinkled cream dress...

I am voting for the guy in the back as best dressed. he is the only one I would believe showed up for a wedding.

I mean for a wedding men don't have many options, if you don't want to wear a classic suit, wearing an elegant jacket with shirt or a turtle neck (assuming it's Winter now where you live), you can use jeans instead of classic pants with elegant shoes.

The suit below looks cute for a special event imo. It’s not the typical black suit etiquette per your demand OP. Plus, it stands out a little bit without being too campy. I’d maybe take this kind of look in consideration.

Love this one but aside for a budget of very least 5k-10k for this suit, this is very over the top, it might not be for a celebrity event but for a for a normal wedding it kind of is if you're not somebody that is used to be extravagant-over the top.

Be a big boy and buy a classy, well-fitting black or navy suit. Charcoal grey is an option too, but make sure it doesn’t look like you’d wear it to an office job. Invest in a suit that you can wear to multiple occasions in the future. If you wear a flashy suit to one wedding, everyone will remember it at the next one. It’s not exactly something you can re-wear a lot.

Don’t wear a light colored suit unless it’s a summer wedding or very casual.

If you can afford it, buy a MTM suit, or find one that is a close fit off the rack and get it tailored to fit better.

Don’t try to wear something too special or flashy unless you’re in the wedding party and the couple has requested it. It’s not your wedding and it’s not about you. Wear a beautiful tie if you want something special.

I have a dark navy suit with subtle vertical (herringbone) stripes, which you see depending on how the light hits it. It got me a lot of complements at a wedding without being flashy.
