Wanting Kesha to go back to work with Wrabel instead of Rick Rubin is an insane take honestly :deadbanana4:

I think there is nothing special Rick did about production, it's simple and it's something any other producer could do, his name is bigger than the production he did on the 2 songs.

people having breakdowns cuz this song isn't radio friendly is sending me Lindsay Lohan Reaction GIF by MOODMAN

What's truly sending me is ATRL users giving production feedback to Rick Rubin. I think people are confusing 'good production' with safe, polished Max Martin'd songs that are filled with stock instruments and samples. Nothing wrong with the latter but you can't judge everything with that tiny lens. There is music outside of bops.

Go trough his wiki and you'll see he's been criticised by other producers and huge artists for his production, lets not act just because he didn't put the drums on and used the iPhone recording he is some sort of production art god.

Wiki as a source … yes he has been criticised for the ‘loudness wars’ thing because he used to compress her songs too hard to sound louder. Everyone started copying him and now he stopped doing that …

I'm actually really puzzled by the ones who want pop/dance Ke$ha back.. High Road was literally an attempt at that and it was PANNED :deadvision:

I still can’t believe there’s people on here melting down over these songs when they’re both hella good and actually give me faith that this could be Kesha’s greatest artistic output ever. :ahh:

I guess I’m starting to learn people on here really do only like basic pop and nothing else. Expand your tastes people there’s a whole world of music out there

If Kesha had delivered a dance by numbers track y’all would be saying “where’s the growth? Where’s the art? Where’s the depth?” You’re all giving courtroom lawyer teas in that she simply cannot win with some of you :toofunny2:

Everyone loved pop Ke$ha type tracks like Tonight, My Own Dance, Kinky, Raising Hell etc if the whole album was like that it would be her best album, it's the rest that was snoozfest.

Yeah im not trusting any internet "insiders" anymore.. ppl hyped up these mid tracks so much and said  this would be her best album wtf.. i'm getting serious high road 2.0 / potato song vibes now

😭😭😭 i'll always check out new kesha music but this was not it and left a bad taste in my mouth but for the album. the demos that were leaked / insider reviews / new direction were so promising too :(

I appreciate her trying something new out but The production and lyrics are the most messy for me, even if it was intented it still don't sound pleasant to my ears still after a few days of rlly trying to enjoy it 😭 she needs to drop this rick rubin person ASAP (!!!) and the labels MUST review the rest of the songs, i wouldn't mind waiting a bit more for a more polished (AND WELL MIXED) album.

I tried to be open but we might need wrabel back at this point, i hope the songs are well enjoyed by other ppl but ill be so happy to see ANY artistic growth, we dont care bout charts or dance music anymore even

This post :bibliahh:

Anyway Fine Line song of the decade

lets put all this energy into the vocal production and mixing cause thats the real crime here

To be fair, it wasn't critically panned, "just" disliked by most fans and unnoticed by the GP.

Almost everyone disliked Tonight (full song) when it came out, My Own Dance was super polarizing when she released it and most people thought Raising Hell sounded dated :rip:.

That "rest" is objectively the more appreciated half of the album.

While the rest is better quality production and lyrics wise it simply doesn't have that replay value like her pop songs do, yeah songs like FDD, Shadow and Chasing Thunder are cute but I don't think it's the type of song you can have on repeat all day without getting bored of them. I get that she is going for acclaim and not the numbers but once she is out of contract she'll struggle to release anything due the lack of success from High Road and possibly Gag Order because people that used to be fans until now simply won't check her out anymore

I'm not going to lie when these come on in my playlist the change in vocal mixing is quite stark :rip: Not necessarily a bad thing, however I do think the songs would've still worked with crisper vocals and layering

But this isn't a mainstream pop record, so it's not even supposed to pander to what a certain subset of fans (allegedly) want. The point is to appeal to an audience that is a bit broader/slightly different from the mainstream pop crowd to get people on board that perhaps have not cared much about Kesha at all yet. Rainbow had basically the same concept and the critical acclaim combined with the departure in sound paid off with people who never really paid attention to Kesha before, despite a certain group of core fans not liking it. This is a feature and not a bug, so it's not going to negatively affect anything.

Y’all stay doing the most. Both songs have been widely well received so far online, ETA especially. Art is subjective, it’s not supposed to be for everyone. Just because you don’t care for it doesn’t make it trash.

I was responding to them. I like the songs. No they aren’t amazing radio smashes but that’s fine.

fine line was boring, the acid song sounded cool but i'm not sure about the replay value

His "talents" did not come through on this project, he was not the right producer for threse songs because no offense but these songs sound so unpleasant but they could be easily elevated with better, less boring production and better lyrics

We thought the high road sound quality / lyricism was a fluke, we dont want pop songs we want ANY signs of ARTISTIC GROWTH

The meltdowns in here :dies:

Eat the Acid is a 9/10 at the very least and Fine Line is a 8/10 with some of her best lyrics ever.

Theyre not cookie cutter so ppl expecting to enjoy them from the perspective of regular pop songs is just... go listen to the Animal outtakes or whatever.

PERIOD :clap3: Eat the Acid is an all time Kesha discography highlight imo, and the lyrics on Fine Line are so poignant. Kesha’s always been a versatile pop artist, and these songs show we’re still at the beginning side of what’s sure to be an interesting and constantly creative musical career

I think kesha needed to work with some freah newer talwnts to elevate her artistic vision not this corny rick person, i think that will be the main issue for this album
