Yeah, but it‘s disputed to what extent it‘s a literal description of events. Luke always argued the song was 100% accurate because that would exonerate him, while Kesha said it‘s not 100% literal.

i once bought Cannibal (Huis Van Der Cohen Dutch Extended Mix) from bandcamp (idk how much it was like a decade ago) and i cant find it anywhere anymore since it was removed from bandcamp

Ugh Pretty Lady should've been on Warrior. Its so catchy and would've been around the time Drag Race started blowing up. 

 

Also remember when Woo Hoo leaked and it was rumoured to be the lead from K2 but then ended up going to that Nickelodeon boy band

Everything would have unfolded differently if Kesha‘s own lawsuit had not been put on hold indefinitely in favor of the defamation case at the beginning. That did more damage than anything else, including the dismissal of her first counterclaims for nonsensical technicalities.

 

If the roles had been reversed and this had been Kesha‘s case with Luke as defendant (in California instead of New York), I‘m sure Kesha would have gone to trial if necessary instead of settling last minute like Luke did. That would have eliminated the whole defamation and anti-SLAPP issues and created a completely different trial, but that door was closed by 2016 already.

 

The whole point of anti-SLAPP laws is to level the playing field so that deep-pocketed plaintiffs stop prosecuting their meritless cases, so it was always clear that no individual - let alone a high-profile individual like Luke - would ever expose themselves to such a risk unless their counsel is completely incompetent. Obviously, no defendant in a high-profile case wants to go trial, so it would have simply made no sense for Kesha to go trial even while being in a good position.

Woo Hoo was genuinely supposed to be the lead, or at least a single, from whatever ended up being Warrior.

 

Shots was an Animal/Cannibal outtake but from what I remember hearing from a (reputable) insider during the Tinychat days they really did consider releasing it as a single or standalone, or as part of an expanded Cannibal. As noted in the lawsuit docs, Cannibal was considered to be an LP at one point and not a partner EP. Spandex on the Distant Horizon was always a concept/joke and not actually an album planned between Animal and Warrior.

 

Also, there was tea about Luke getting pissy that she wrote/recorded Woo Hoo with Matt Squire and not him. They had their issues for years but again from the Tinychat insider this really kicked off their disputes with the direction of the project that Warrior would become. You can really tell she was experimenting with a grungier/edgier sound with Woo Hoo, Pretty Lady, and Machine Gun Love, and Luke didn’t like it.

 

All things considered though the entire conflict (as it relates to recording, not their personal relationship) would have been resolved if he just stopped being a selfish dick and gave her creative control… like Woo Hoo was a bonafide hit and would have done well on the charts (likely notching her another #1 if we’re being real) It’s not like she was showing up to Kemosabe HQ with Björk demos.
