I feel like even she's shook at how hard the era bombed. Hopefully it was a wake up call for her team to shake things up a bit.

Bomb? Things are going decent for someone in her predicament

It is the biggest pop girl bomb in recent years, sadly. Quality was served but the audience is just not there.

Literally only around 20 copies were sent to various stores around the USA

This isn't an accessible album and the storyline isn't really for people who aren't invested in her (her fans.)

I'll reiterate that I don't think this album was created or designed with chart and commercial success in mind. Though I will say I'm certain they didn't expect it to do the numbers it did.

We're only 7 weeks into the era (which also coincides with an ongoing strike) and we've received some of the best visuals and music of her career. I get that y'all want the rest of the world to hop on board but moping about how "the era is dead" when we're regularly getting new content/visuals, performances, and have a soon to be sold out tour coming up is a lot. :chick1:

I'll stick to my delulu belief that this record will have legs and will be a slow-burn inserted into the pop classic canon in a few years time.

It already achieved its purpose by becoming her highest user-rated album of her career across the board on all major sites...the people who get it get it and the rest is missing out.

They should have released an official single, released an official music video pre-album release, booked TV performances (if it had been possible), released vinyls first week, released a Target exclusive, released CD/vinyl variants, provided streaming playlisting and made CDs available in major stores in that case .

It’s sad because these are basic promotional tactics. I think they thought going the complete other route would build more hype than they did but hopefully with the next era she can find some middle ground.

Also tours can be great promo in this tik tok era. I feel like at any moment something from her tour could go viral.

a better promo approach would’ve probably improved the chart performance a little better, but yeah as far as the music goes it served its purpose of being a very personal album for her and the fans - but the downside of a project like that is always gonna be that it doesn’t appeal to the masses.

but at this point im really not sure how she can go up from here, i don’t think it matters what type of music she makes anymore, it feels like people outside of her fanbase just don’t care :noparty:  i’m not sure what the *right* song would sound like for her to get another Praying moment

Have you seen those three tik toks that have gone viral in the past 3 months? she has that nostalgia appeal, people just genuinely don’t know she has an album out and it obviously would take longer to get into the album for casual fans that don’t know her full journey.

I know she genuinely hasn’t been that relevant for quite a while but she has enough of a legacy that she could have a mini-resurgence again at some point, even just momentarily like she did with Praying/Rainbow.

I do hope at some point she makes proper dance music. Not like tonight or raising hell but like more euro dance or house vibes. I feel that would give her a cute little moment with the gays. I’m imagining a Rush x Tove Lo.

She needs to release the shelved Calvin Harris collab from 2011 .

Spoiler

No, but seriously, Kesha x [DJ] could smash if handled properly unless the DJ is called Sam Feldt.

Yeah she needs to steer clear of the edm route and pull out a club banger with a respected DJ. She could have her Padam Padam moment (with a better song).

I think the conditions for that have never been better because Kesha has nothing left to prove anymore artistically after Gag Order, so she couldn't get dragged if she tried pandering to the mainstream again.

Additionally, a carefree bop would make a lot of sense in light of her newly-gained freedom.

that’s what i was trying to say, i just phrased it weird haha. she can always have another moment, i’m just saying i have no idea what kind of sound would work for her that would click with the public and still be true to the music she wants to make. maybe a cute hook girl collab with a bigger artist to get her name back out there again?

although i really don’t think Kesha herself cares about ever having another hit song but it’s always nice to see her getting recognition she deserves and the chart performance of this album has to be a little disappointing

Throwback to this multi-Platinum eligible Hot AC smash hit (20 weeks on the Hot 100, 45 weeks on Adult Top 40, #6 on Adult Top 40 year-end for 2018) .

I personally hope that she fully departs from any semblance of mainstream music. Let Kesha become a full time alt girl. I need a country folk album, I need her to lean into her singer songwriter bag. I also would not mind her heading in the direction of Peace & Quiet or more brooding folktronica like Gag Order… it’s so exciting that she could really just do whatever next.

What I don’t want is anything like a majority of the demos for Gag Order. :rip: I know she has always made frilly silly songs on the side but I can’t sit by and listen to another High Road from her. Don’t do it girl!
