These are the most recent TV ratings (in million viewers) for all major broadcasted awards shows in the USA.

The Oscar's being the only one with more than 10M viewers :deadbanana2:.

Is streaming factored into these?

These pov are a bit sad.

Some award shows are entertaining and a big part of pop culture. Nothing wrong with caring for those moments or rooting for your fave artists/movies/arts to get some regconization.

For me a boring life would be you dont care about anything at all, everything is just like whatever. But somehow that mindset become trendy , lol.

Its kinda ironic how some still log in to a pop culture forum everyday but still always "oh who cares"

You're right IMO. Sometimes I find myself having the same opinion as the above poster, but I realise that not caring about anything would just result in life being boring

Not caring to watch full award show does not mean you don't care about anything. I watch acceptance speeches if artists I care for won, but I am not wasting life on 3 hours award show with vapid celebrities, that is more sad to waste time of your life on watching that boring mess. I care for a lot of things, awards ain't one

You do care enough to enter a thread about award shows and make comments.

Anyway, good for you that you dont care about this stuff, everyone have their own reference.

But dont ruin the fun and trashing  other people hobbies. For you its boring and sad. For somes its fun and exciting.

Yes, I came here to share my thoughts about declining ratings for all award shows. It seems like people who enjoy them in 2023 are in minority. Have a blessed day! xoxo

These are actually good numbers.

Its Nielsen and how everything is measured is outdated.

The viewership would would be triple the amount for each show if they were streamed online.

It’s very rare for someone to have cable TV anymore.

Updated the OP with the most recent viewership numbers.

With how the Grammys and Golden Globes have had significant increases this year, I think the Oscars have a really good shot at surpassing 20M+, which would be massive for today's standards. :lakitu:

between 40-50M on average, and even more in the previous decades (in 1998 the year of Titanic, they did almost 60 million)

the twinks in this site tend to forget that american movies, hollywood culture and all that jazz has always been something americans are very proud of and they always tuned in to the Oscars no matter what, it's a tradition. it's always been the biggest/most watched show after the Superbowl. and even as recently as 2017, the show still attracted 35 million viewers while other big ceremonies like the Grammys had already fallen to around 20-25M for more than a decade. people will tell you streaming is the main culprit for the fall in viewers for the Oscars but that's not true, it's one of but not the main reason, streaming was already quite strong in 2017. there was simply a before and after Covid, a full year of disruption hence disinterest in movie-going culture did a lot of damage.

The dominating show in what's generally considered the biggest genre never hit a million tv viewers for any ep.

That wasn't helpful to get tv viewers
