Hello! I'm a music researcher and I came across this post and it's been very helpful in my search of finding, confirming, and debunking Beyonce rejects :)

I see you have already added my very first confirmation from 4 months ago, I confirmed "Paralyzed" by Korin Deanna Lane!

If you check out my YouTube videos, you'll see I have more content you might wanna add here.

"Silent Treatment" by Rachel Kerr was submitted between 4 and self-titled era (I'd add it in self-titled)

"Damaged" by Danity Kane was on hold for Beyonce, Sasha Fierce era

"Can I Live" by Sisqo was originally for Michael Jackson and Destiny's Child's Survivor album

"Wrapped Around Me" by Cheri Dennis & Missy Elliott were for the Dangerously In Love album

I have confirmed many songs that aren't listed here, and you should tune in to see me post about them! Feel free to add them here as I do :)))

I've actually confirmed one in your ?? section, and debunked one. "Been Thinking" by TYLA has been unfortunately ruled out for Beyonce :(

Let me know if there's anything I can help with!

Found the "I Hate This Part" demo by Wayne Hector.

Don't know about you guys, but I hear OneRepublic, Ne-Yo, Toni Braxton, Pink, or Jordin Sparks.

Not really B (or PCD for that matter). They knocked it out the park though.

Welcome to ATRL! So glad my thread could be your first comment. :alexz:

(1) Thank you for your contributions! Definitely adding "Damaged":

The trio’s first real break came with "Damaged.”

The song, Yip remembers, was originally on hold for Beyonce’s "I Am Sasha Fierce” album, but when the record’s release was delayed, they realized it would be crazy to wait.

(2) I usually wouldn't include a song like "Wrapped Around Me" here (that was tailor-made for B + the rights seemingly purchased, but just didn't make the album), but I will make an exception because the demo is out there, (you posted a version of the demo,) and there's some starpower there.

Spoiler

Beyoncé Knowles spent the week working — or rather, working it — on her debut solo album with Timbaland and a certain supa dupa fly producer.

"We just did a song last night called 'Wrapped Around Me,' " revealed a sleepy Missy Elliott last week. "Basically, she's saying she's not an extra chick, like she don't have to do nothing extra, like, 'I'll still have you wrapped around me.' "

(3) Do you have a source for "Can I Live", and one against Been Thinking's inclusion here? I would definitely add that one and remove the other.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

(4) I'm adding Choice's "Stay" as well! Thank you!

Never posted the original "Lay Up Under Me". The way she took it from 2007 Ne-Yo bonus track to Quincy Jones x Michael Jackson is remarkable.

I actually spoke to Theron Thomas personally where I asked about Been Thinking, and he said "No it wasn't", so I don't have a source I can link to besides my chat with him haha.

Here's the source for Can I Live: EW visits Sisqó in the studio

What's weird about it is that it mentions both a song that was originally made for Michael Jackson, and it then mentions a song that was originally made for Destiny's Child. The wording is strange, but from my own research they seem to both point to "Can I Live". From my understanding, the instrumental was conceived with him in mind (unknown if he recorded over it), and then it went to DC (the existence of a female demo is hinted at with the mention of the female lyrics) and then it went to Sisqo.

What I wouldn't give to hear the original, "Houston meets R&B" (supposedly had a beat like Dababy's "Suge" - below) demo version of Virgo's Groove by Jozzy and Tate Kobang built around these lines. :smitten: Again B took a diamond in the rough and smoothed it into her best career song.

Quote

Right Here, Right Now

Iced up, bite down
Baby, lock in, right now
I want it right here, right now
Cuddled up on the couch
Motorboat, baby, spin around

Jozzy:

Quote

Last year, just before Beyonce’s Renaissance album was released, she learned the singer had transformed a demo she’d co-written and titled “Right Here, Right Now” into the six-minute disco track “Virgo’s Groove.” “Beyonce turned that s–t into a masterpiece,” Jozzy says, noting the original production sounded like Houston R&B. “We had a great song, but the way she colored it … it’s crazy.”

Tate Kobang:

Quote

Yeah it’s crazy, because what you hear is not what the original song sounded like. Before that, the beat felt like DaBaby’s “Suge.” Me and [songwriter] Jozzy wrote [the track] like three to four years ago in L.A., and that’s how long it took for it to come back. ’Cause Beyoncé, she was doing other things — touring, etc. Then out of nowhere, it comes. I didn’t hear the song like this until it came out.

This one was actually confirmed by my fellow researcher friend BritneyXposed who confirmed "I Hate This Part" by The Pussycat Dolls! I'm not sure if you wanna add this one, but I'm just adding as much info here as possible. I don't know if she recorded this one, but it was also pitched to Jordin Sparks. Also it's worth mentioning (that I forgot to mention before) that Beyonce actually recorded a version of "Silent Treatment" by Rachel Kerr, confirmed by a conversation I had with Jareiq Kabara

Thank you! I'll definitely add this one because it was sent to more than one artist. I'm surprised Jordin didn't take it, but I can also hear the Beyonce - IASF connection and wonder if she did her usual pre-payment to secure it (taking it away from Jordin + other perspective artists), cut it, and it just wasn't used. We were talking about IASF a few days ago in the Beyonce base, and I still believe she should've gone all-in with the dual-disc concept and done a full-length double album for the certifications. B was sitting on so many gems that didn't make it like this one. In the album's current condensed form, I definitely see this as a record that "Halo" and "Hello" might have beaten out.

This should've been sent to Kelly Rowland, tbh. She would've done this song well and the standard edition of Here I Am needed a pop ballad like this.

And another one: "Welcome To Hollywood" (Ne-Yo, Syience) from the B'Day Deluxe Edition was originally made for Britney Spears alongside "Flaws & All".

Hello! :))) This is the last Beyonce reject I'll be posting in about a month because I have material made for other artists that I wanna highlight as well haha. but I had the pleasure of speaking to INGRID in September, and she told me that "Fun" was actually for Beyonce, and made during the same sessions as "Love Drought"! The boss said it should be her record instead after she pitched it, so she kept it and released it. I know this was listed as a possible self-titled era song, and I think it does fit self-titled more! But unless Love Drought was made during the self-titled era, and later released on Lemonade, I'd say this is actually a Lemonade era pitch :)

Thank you for doing additional sleuthing! Feels good to have a hunch confirmed. As soon as I pressed play I knew it was for B, and that writing team confirmed it. I'll move it! :alexz:

Hey guys!

Got another one in honor of Self-Titled's 10th Anniversary: "God Made You Beautiful". Originally released as an exclusive bonus track alongside Beyonce's 2013 first documentary Life Is But A Dream, there was some speculation at the time that (1) it was worked on in the same Hamptons x Sia writing camp recording batch as "Pretty Hurts", "Standing On The Sun", "Rise Up", and "Two Footprints" (returned to sender and ended up on Sia's own This Is Acting album), and (2) that it was made for possible inclusion for Beyonce's fifth album. Both are still plausible.

I don't know if Leona Lewis (and Nicole Scherzinger) just have bad luck, or their teams are very set in their ways... but this is another addition to the "songs one or both of them have passed on" pile alongside "Blank Page" (Christina Aguilera), 'We Found Love" (Rihanna), "Burn" (Ellie Goulding), "Mountains" (Emile Sande), and "Shadows" (Westlife).

It was originally called "You Are Perfectly You"... but underwent some changes once Beyonce got a hold of it.

Adding this video here just because I like it, and it gives a little more insight to her process. (Also confirms "Counting Stars" was made in the Hamptons but kept for OneRepublic, as well as the origins for "XO")

Written for Beyonce's B'Day album, given to Fantasia for her 2006 self-titled album. The first few seconds of Candice Nelson's demo gives this away. "Yo, Bey! Don't you know who this is? It's The Clutch!" Enjoy this exclusive audio I posted!

Just happened to see this thread from the main page. Very informative and I live for this sort of tea, so kudos to the OP for the research that went into this.

By the way, does anyone know if there's a similar thread for Rihanna on this site?

Thank you!

You asked, I listened. :alexz: Still under construction.

Honestly, most of these are nowhere near her best, tho I am SHOOKeth by the DIVA allegations.

This list makes a case for Beyoncé's originality as a musical artist.

I confirmed this one with Korin Deanna Lane at the same time I confirmed Paralyzed! This song was also pitched to Tamia and Ciara

In addition to that, a good friend of mine confirmed "Space" by Melody Thornton of The Pussycat Dolls to be originally for IASF as well! Here's the demo by Andrea Anderson, it sounds older than IASF if you ask me haha
